I have just finished the Oxford course on Mapping, Spatial Data and GIS and was wanting to know how to produce a web-site with geo-tagged photos. Thank you. It is very clear

Thanks Richard. Were you in Laura's cohort? Congratulations on finishing the course and please do post a link when your site is up and running! 😀

@@burdGIS Thanks Oliver. Yes, I was with Laura. Thanks for the set of three videos which are very clear. My only problem is resizing my photos so they fit the window on the web-page. With my phone (Samsung A50) I can resize the photos I take (to 10%) and then e-mail them to myself but the location details are lost. I can crop the photos on the phone and then send them or crop them on the PC andd that is fine but I really want to reduce the size of thee photos on my phone and keep the geo-location data. Any thoughts?

The geolocation information is kept in the photo metadata. This is usually referred to as Exif data. Here's a (not so elegant) solution to copy Exif data from the original to the resized image: photo.stackexchange.com/questions/95028/how-to-copy-exif-metadata-on-android-from-one-photo-to-another Why do you need to keep the photos on the phone? You could batch resize them on the computer and maintain the Exif info with a short script in Python.

Hi Oliver I have been doing quite a bit of work on my webmaps following your guidance on the videos. I have set up a website which now has quite a number of webmaps (vickgis.42web.io/). However I am having continuing problems with the geolocations of photographs taken on my Samsung A50 phone. Most of the photographs have the right location but I always have a few photos that have the wrong locations. I wonder if you have any such problems - I have tried switching off wifi and not using the assisted location (where GPS is assisted by other data from wifi and phone signals) but to no avail. The GPS is working fine on the phone so it seems to me to be a problem with the phone app. Best wishes Richard

Tanks! How to make a photo in qgis from gpx format?
@burdGIS Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure gpx stores photos. At most wouldn't the .gpx file have a string filepath indicating where the photo is stored? I'd be happy to take a look at your .gpx file if you send it across.

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I followed the steps in the video, but I cannot view the photos using "Click Photos" icon after import. May i know why.
@burdGIS3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Than. What happens when you try to view the photos and what version of QGIS, plugin and Operating System are you using? Also have you check github to see if this is a known issue?
@thanthannyunt82883 жыл бұрын
@@burdGIS Thanks for the reply. the image icons (points) are shown on the map with the correct locations. Just that i could not see the photo or the photo did not pop up after clicking the point. am using the version 3.16.10. will check at github to see if there is an answer to my issue. :)

I get an error after importing photos. it says something about Phyton
@burdGIS4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting. When reporting any errors it's important to include exactly what the error messsage says. This gives developer an insight as to where (and what) the problem might be. I didn't write any of the plugins used in this series but I might be able to help with the problem. Cheers! :-)
