This is the most professional and comprehensive video on cutaway prototyping that I have ever seen! Well done lockcracker my friend! I really look forward to future joint ventures in the lock and lock cutaway sector. The details in the video are amazing and you even managed it to keep it short and sharp only including the most important facts. I am really impressed by your work and I am even more impressed that you not only took my challenge but also fulfilled it in a way that I would have never even dreamt of! Thanks and best wishes, Adrian Weber - Security Elements

It is so refreshing seeing some one make videos without the infomercial stain. My favorite channel by far. Sometimes the intellectual stimulation is the motivation. Please keep it up.

Guy, its not an accident... hope to remain totally independent to say and make whatever i want and then share it with the YT community! I'm still trying to find my niche, for the kind of content that i want to produce. I'm still heading towards more of a design perspective rather than basic CAD/CAM and machining; thanks again for the support.

l0ckcr4ck3r Just a suggestion but you seem to excel at explaining truth about things vis-à-vis the impact driver on the machine vice, I just saw a video of fella explain the surface he just ground to be .0005 from flat due to the backlash within the brown and sharp .0005 indicator.

Guy Good I guess all I'm doing is trying to encourage people to do a bit of critical thinking. You see these memes in the YT community, someone says something and then the others in that group just repeat it on their videos and no one down the line bothers to question it. A great recent example is how wonderful HSM on a cheap import mill is. The Pros: It looks cool - no argument there it increases tool life - Bullshit!!! it will do on a proper VMC but on a cheap mill like the Tormach, the amount of run out will never let that happen and in fact run out drastically reduces tool life it reduces cycle time - Hmm... under certain circumstances, maybe but with the rapids and acceleration the Tormach has, in most cases it won't. The Cons: It exponentially increases wear and tear on both the ways and ball screws. I want to postpone the day i need to enable backlash comp. on my machine for as long as possible..... I think i'll live with uncool toolpaths till i can afford a machining canter.

l0ckcr4ck3r I am in such agreement with the HSM argument save a bit of time and tool life at expense of the machine, it will undoubtedly also shorten the life of a VMC perhaps unless linear motors.

Great work with the cutaway! I think one of these cutaway padlocks would help sell the Gamma 700 at our shop in California. Are you interested in making more? How much would you charge if I supplied the two Gamma 700s?

At the 11:00 minute mark, you'll see the end mill snag a slug of brass and kick up the rear left corner of the Padlock in the vise... This explains why the depth of chamfer if slightly larger around the Tang, compared to the rest of the pocket!
@l0ckcr4ck3r
@l0ckcr4ck3r 3 жыл бұрын
it was a while ago now.. but I seem to remember it hit something... there was a small defect on the pocket wall but it became almost invisible after the chamfer was added.

Hi Dave, that's just my makers mark, same as the icon on YT, and the 008 is the serial number of the cutaway. I always try and hide them on the cutaways if I can... You're not the first to ask. Thanks for stopping by!
