I lived in a van for two years in the bay area all because of bad decisions on my part. The difference between these people and myself was I understood it was my own fault. I showed up every morning at 5:30 am at labor ready and took any job offered. I never asked for or received any government assistance in all those months. I managed to get enough money saved to get my own place in that time and move on with my life. I understand the mentally ill being stuck in this situation but they are a small percentage. The majority of the homeless are lazy,drug addicted or alcoholic.
