@ Which one of us is going to get a cimbasso first is the real question!

@LowBrassU you can! The o'malley is very good btw

@@AidanRitchie I’ve thought about going that route and I have a Rudy Meinl F Cimbasso Bell that may fit on the Chinese horns since they are a copy. I should probably just be happy that I’ll have a contrabass trombone soon and chill for a bit.

Siegfried Cieslik (CHESS-leek) was the bass trombonist in the Berlin Philharmonic before Stefan, during the Karajan and Abbado eras. He was a beast!

So I've heard now! Of course I pronounced it wrong, I've actually never thought about it. Interesting that he still has artist model instruments for sale.

I think people sleep a bit on the Bach D cup for bass trumpet and even alto trombone, model depending of course. The limited bit here on your bass trumpet really sounds like a low trumpet, I think we forget about the trumpet part when we're tasked to play it. Thanks for all you do!
@AidanRitchie4 күн бұрын
Yeah, the D cup makes the horn really sing- it gets that awesome color to it and the intonation lines up WAY better. Most of all, it doesn't feel tiny when you play it, it just feels right.

I Have a Jupiter 594 brass Sousaphone it plays and sounds great. And it has been my daily driver horn for 3 years. but I do have an E F Durant bass trombone, but its a Chinese copy of that specific horn you have. My model number Horn is Jinbao JBT 830. and also the last horn in my collection is the Eastrock Tenor Trombone from Amazon, but it was $150. its surprisingly sounds great for a beginner trombone.

After cutting the tuning slide , I think just leave the 50bg as is! May be cool to have a single bass for some choice settings.
@AidanRitchie4 күн бұрын
That's what I think every time I own a single... and then it never gets played. I've owned 10!!

A couple of years ago, you did, "What's the Perfect 3-Trombone Stable?" Why is it, then, that you have all these bones? Is having a plethora of posaunes (or a stable of sackbuts, if you prefer) cost effective? What's your ROI? I know that my playing days in the Rocky Mtn. area pales in the opportunities you have on West Coast, however, I was able to make it happen on just two instruments (a tenor and a bass). But again, are all those bones worth the money you've put out?
@AidanRitchie4 күн бұрын
There's a couple reasons. I love playing music, I love creating art in a collective act with others. I also, in a parallel way, love the instruments and things themselves. It's spendy but it's really my main hobby. The horns also don't lose a ton of money in my possession- they're more like assets you can play, to an extent.
