Burin, West Bank: Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Palestinian communities in the West Bank are particularly affected by violence at the hands of Israeli settlers. Thousands of people have been displaced since October 7. The community of Burin near Nablus has experienced repeated attacks. Residents talk about their everyday lives. The medico partner organization Union of Agricultural Workers Committee (UAWC) supports them.

@@medicointernational Thank you for the link to your piece. Great to read. Living in Denmark it has been odd to follow the seemingly absent debate in Germany, the arrest of Jews protesting against the genocide in Gaza (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2GuZ5yOn9GIe68si=QCFo4uLw5o1kftPr), the de-platforming of Jews like Masha Gessen when she should receive the Hannah-Arendt-Preis, participating i demonstration in Copenhagen demanding a ceasefire and there listening to greetings from Germans telling that they are not allowed to protest. Tragic that the "Erinnerungskultur an den Holocaust" together with a miserable profit motive ends up providing support for genocide. Not that I think that we in Denmark have much to be proud of in this situation. Our government has been very quiet and right after October 7th supported Israel. No sign of reviewing export licenses for weapon to be used in Israel after the ICJ order 2024-01-26. Trying to end on a positive note as your piece does it may be helpful that the West's ethic stance is revealed as hollow and the days where we should lecture the World about what is just is approaching it's expiration date.
