I'm planning to get a Feelfree Lure II Tandem. Feelfree overdrive system plus the motor is about $2500. Did a bunch of research and someone suggested Bixpy. I'm pretty much sold at this point. Time to start purchasing. Thanks for the review.

Same here with the same kayak. I was on the fence, leaning more towards the Newport for the POWER 😂. But you start adding all the cost associated with set up and I was looking at $2,400. The additional weight was also a huge factor. The kayak has a 500 lbs capacity. Two grown men on the kayak plus gear and the Newport motor 13 lbs with a 30 lbs battery, would put me around 540 lbs. now you have to worry about stability. I already have the peddle drive system and if you pair it with the bixpy, I think it’s the best way to go.

I'm old (70? really?). I upgraded to the Hobie Pro Angler 14 360 last year (it's heavy!). And yes, I'm getting the 2024 Hobie Pro Angler 14 360 -- you know, because improvements. Anyhoo, I got the Bixpy J-2 motor with Hobie adapters etc. with a few wiring options and it WAS < $1,500. It is awesome! I'm no DIYer but was easily able to install the motor all by myself. And removing it from the 2023 was also a cinch. It allows me to travel distances without wearing myself out and get there quickish. It doesn't go really fast but fast enough for my comfort. I did get the PowerShroud Fine Grill Propeller Guard to avoid getting weeds wrapped around the propeller. Bixpy's customer service is Fan-BASS-Tic! They answered all my questions and recommended solutions, including the Fine Grill Propeller Guard -- which included a link to a video showing how to install it since I wasn't smart enough to figure that out on my own. Can't wait to hear how YOU guys evaluate the Bixpy! Roger, The Smiling BassHole

I do a fair amount of fishing abroad. I always think, I wish I had my kayak, boat or fishing Seadoo because shore fishing in other countries isnt always great. So for my last trip to Belize I purchased and inflatable SUP board designed for fishing. I had a great time on that thing and the only down side was I cant fish and paddle at the same time, and constantly fighting wind and current. So I just purchased the Vibe 100 Lite SUP board with X drive. Then discovered that Bixby made a Thru Hull adapter for it and I had to have it. So that entire rig is about $3,000, but the entire rig deflated fits in a travel bag on rollers and less than 50 lbs, and checks as a regular bag at the airline.

I personally prefer NK180 if my kayak has a rear mount. The K-1 fits good with my Hobie Lynx, but it's power is slightly below that of a watersnake 24lb T, that's because I have both and I already know. What's good about the K-1 is the waterproof and being lighter then a separate battery for the watersnake, but it costs a LOT more. All boils down to your kayak type, requirements for use of a motor, and affordability.

I just picked up the Bixpy outboard kit, with an additional battery vs. Angler Pro kit. Here's why: The 2 smaller batteries basically gives me the same range as the Pro kit, but at a fraction of the weight. For me weight was an important consideration. I understand I don't get the 13th speed that gives the additional 5 lbs of torque. But both kits have the same top speed. The Pro kit can run at top speed for 2+ hours. The 2 smaller batteries provides 80min ea. at top speed. Which equals to 2 hours and 40 min. The pro weighs 25 lbs. The outboard kit with the additional battery is only 18 lbs. Jus some information to help people make an educated decision on which option is best for them.

I know it's not popular yet in the Kayak world, but I really think the Autoboat GPS system that Tiny Boat Nation is selling will be #1 Kayak motor setup overtime. Considering you can get a secondhand 12V Trolling Motor dirt cheap, and can use pretty much any 12V deep cycle battery (doesn't need to be Lithum) you can get Spotlock and everything for less than a grand.

As I stated before I think?!? These are basically personal underwater craft motors. Thus, why it can work up to 100ft underwater.

Hi guys, i got a old 2009 ocean kayak prowler ultra 4.7, i'm fishing in saltwater conditions in Tahiti, same conditions like in Hawaii, im wondering how this motor is durable in tough saltwater use ? I wanna use it for covering a large fishing area, 10-18km inside the lagoon and for slow jigging outside in deep waters, so should i go for a bigger battery ? I need some advices before i put some money

I hated my K1 the first day i used it. a tiny amount of floating grass would get in around the prop and cause the motor to error out and shut down; i spent more time removing a pencil size amount of loose grass shutting the motor off than i did enjoying having it. total waste of money for fishing.
@aaanglers10 ай бұрын
We will find out for ourselves this weekend.
@dean971810 ай бұрын
early season or anytime the water is clean w/o vegetation you'd be fine. once the grass starts growing up and the bass / ski boat props start cutting it so it's floating on the lake this thing becomes worthless. The prop is so small that even a little bit in there makes the motor run poorly and drains your battery; i went from 4 bars to one in no time once grass started getting in the prop basket... And it doesn't take much either, what shut me down was a loose bit smaller than the size of my little finger which was not even wound tight on the prop, it messes up the ability for water to move over the really small prop making it inefficient and not something you even know is a problem until it becomes about the size of your small finger and then it will error out... or if it doesn't error out the battery will drain quickly. to fix the error, pull the magnet off and put it back on, clean the prop and repeat every time it fouls. moving at slow speed in clean water i had hours of use and it was great. Add vegetation and it quickly becomes unusable from shutting down or killing the battery quickly. They offer a week guard version but that also decreases speed and battery life.

They make cintroleser for other things that can interfere you do know this right? I've seen a guy control his trolling motor with Google glass or some other tech that's the same. Bluetooth is also available for boats as of 10 yrs ago. Satellite/wifi. There are " hobby" motors for subs, large scale air craft carriers etc that can produce the needs easily and they are cheaper. Although , not a complete package. It's a build your wine type deal. These motors are similar if not the same as the motors used on trolling motors and the personal underwater vehicle you can rent everywhere a beach is these days... used to be military tech seen in movies. Just cuz you have seen it. Doesn't mean somebody hasn't made it. If he had the capital for production/manufacture,marketing & distribution , he'd be retired in a year. Especially for that price point.

OK both of you are pretty good critical thinkers. $1300 to $1600 . And the content was totally worth listening to. I made a motor mount out of scrap of wood 4x4 Ft Plywood will be more than enough. bought a Minn Kota 40 Pound Motor off face book market place for $40 dollars used . Weldless Prop That's big Deal , as small props clog very often and therefor heat a lot to melting Numbers. 5 speeds forward 3 speeds reverse. Excursion pro X2for $192.00 Amazon . I did cut the shaft to 24 inches added a prop guard for $18 bucks on Amazon So as not to cut the Kayak 6 times on a turn or if shaft is to short when you ground it out getting to shore. Really fun no drama. We went out tested it Perfect. Listen this is not engineered to be a speed thing more like a torchy tractor experience. forsake a top speed measurement . Ours goes 4.5 MPH which is perfect. End of Story $40 bucks and Powered PERFECT.

As a certified critical thinker I can say there are a lot of ways to skin a cat. And that method is great. We often try to call out diy in motor videos. Nobody is saying you have to spend over $1000 to get a motor on a vessel. This is a lot lighter and about the same speed, so it just depends on if you want to DIY and save money or if you want to not DIY and spend money really. If you haven't used one, I would try it before you say NO WAY. Just my 2 cents.
