Harry Pfarrer is paranoid. An epic performance from the actor George Clooney.

The funny thing is, for how much of an idiot he was throughout this movie, I'm not sure I could blame him going nuts when this happens. From a character's perspective, this would be one of the biggest mindfucks in cinema history. You killed this total spook who happened to be "spying" on you at your girlfriend's house and your completely innocent-seeming newer girlfriend knows the guy, knows he was there and is looking for him? And is she telling you this because she also knows you were there and killed him and is trying to trap you in some way? Like what could be going through his mind at this point?

Honestly, of all the amazing lines delivered extremely well by the incredible actors and actresses in this movie, her delivery of that line might be the most perfect. It's so goofy and the perfect way for him to just get completely set off. And from his perspective, having killed a guy that he's 100% sure was some total spook that was out to get him, it's actually understandable he's going nuts from this. What's the saying? "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't watching you." I mean, Phil Ochs was clearly losing it to bipolar disorder near the end, so all his friends were like "oh you" when he said he was being followed by the FBI. Then a couple decades after he hanged himself in his sister's house, the FBI declassified its files on Phil Ochs which contained HUNDREDS of pages of information, conversations, recordings, photographs... And in true Burn After Reading fashion, they still had him listed as active and dangerous up to 5 years after he died.
