Brings back a lot of memories for me. I used to live right over by Royal Oak, and worked at the Brian Canfield Centre (Telus Boot). I know just how narrow that overpass is.

great video. gives an idea of where and how to navigate the commute via bike.
@jwphotoworks6 жыл бұрын
Yep, It's a pretty straight forward ride. The Municipalities of Burnaby and Vancouver did a great job with regards to this bike path.

Cool I am planning to ride to work from Burnaby to downtown Vancouver watching this makes me more confident of where I need to go. Thanks :)
@jwphotoworks6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a pretty easy ride from Burnaby to Downtown, as it's kinda "downhill", or at least flat, the whole way. Riding back to Burnaby, those downhills become uphills of course, but they aren't too major. Have fun!

How has your commute to work been and what's the distance? I'm planning to bike to school as it seems like a more faster form of transportation.
@shinythings20176 жыл бұрын
Russel Silao, is been pretty good going to downtown, usually take 1 hour and 25 minutes from where I live (cariboo) area to downtown (Alberni)... Going home can suck a bit tho... Because Burnaby got a lot of hills! Is about 21.5 k each way, I do it once or twice a week now depends on my other fitness activities :) I tried different route, I also like going thru deer Lake park sometimes, is pretty nice and peaceful

Loved this. Nice vid for me to have on half of my screen while I work in the other half! Would love to see more of this style, maybe to North Van or something, in future!

Nice video. I am thinking about getting a bike or electric scooter to commute from Joyce station to Royal Oak. Thumbs up!
@jwphotoworks7 жыл бұрын
Ya, from Joyce to Royal Oak is pretty straight forward. A good commuter bike should do. There's really only one hill in that stretch, and that's right where the Telus building at Boundary Road is. I suggest sticking to the bike path "behind" the Telus building and then going over the overpass to Central Park as opposed to going up Boundary Road, which is steeper. ;)

thanks for this! i was looking for long run-marathon training route from Vancouver to Burnaby/New West and was considering BC Parkway and yet wasn't able to find detailed/turn by turn details of the route so this really helps as I am now able to visualize certain landmarks and turns, so I'm more confident! thanks a bunch and happy/safe riding ;)

The best tour of Vancouver ever The speed is perfect matching my speed; not to mention that I pedal my stationary exercise bike 😄 👍👍👍 Waiting for the promised part 2

Cool was neat to see how the BC parkway looks these days. I last travelled all the way over it maybe 10 years ago. Ah the ol' bridge over Kingsway!

Ya, the ride is pretty straightforward. Some construction, as you can see near a couple of skytrain stations, but overall, a great way to get some exercise while getting downtown!

so overall it's pretty safe to ride in vancouver from destination to destination? great vid, thanks
@jwphotoworks4 жыл бұрын
Ya, there's a really good network of bike paths and routes throughout Metro Vancouver. There are some spots where you need to ride on the road, but those spots are still designated as bike routes. You have to manage riding with pedestrians too on the paths that are "shared", but overall, it's pretty easy to ride from New Westminster to downtown Vancouver all on designated bike paths.

I enjoyed watching this , If you continued down Central Park to the intersection and took a right you could have bombed that hill and saved lots of headache other than that , great video .
@jwphotoworks3 жыл бұрын
Ya, I do that sometimes, but for this video, I wanted to show as much of the actual "bike route" as I could. Thanks for watching!

The video was smoother than I expected. Did you mount the camera to the handlebars? I didn't see a shadow of it on your helmet.

Yes, I mounted the GoPro to the handlebars. Thanks!

To many junkies on that route take the side roads.

I really don't think you are a responsible cyclist. You will keep doing these zippy turns, cycling through the crosswalk, or cutting stop signs until you get hit. Take it from me, 5 broken facial bones. I am much more responsible now
@johnwhitworth40125 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. As someone who's been riding a bike for about 45 years, raced both road and mtb, I think I'm a pretty capable and responsible cyclist. I never put myself in a dangerous situation crossing busy streets, or navigating through pedestrians who seem to think it's ok to walk on the bike side of the bike path. Oh, and when the designated bike path incorporates a "crosswalk" across a street, it's perfectly fine and legal to ride through it.
@lienuslatetips48944 жыл бұрын
Cycling through the crosswalk is legal in BC and encouraged by signs when the crosswalk uses dashed lines or is painted green. But the zippy turns and not even slowing for stop signs is.... irresponsible.
