Took my 15 year old son in 2011. I was so proud of him. We were burning away a family suicide. Had to let it go together. I'm thankful for our experience. We found family everywhere.

You should pull back the curtain and join a large theme camp that is heavily engaged. You will find out that the real story is that 7500 people sacrifice their freedom so that 75000 can experience the bacchanal with no limits. There is a cadre of devoted builders and leaders who toil for months before the event, arrive early and do 16 hour days, and during the event stay mostly in camp to ensure things run smoothly. Those people are the backbone of BRC, and provide the true canvas on which others paint their dreams. During early entry, we laughingly call it "working man". :-)

Mutant vehicle builder here and you are beyond right. Get in early, set camp up for 30-60 ppl, get the outline of camp and try/pray there will be enough space when you are allowed to make a camp boarder. As I saw in the Rasta lions mouth " Burning Man. The hardest work you will enjoy!"

Went solo and no camp (stayed in single tent). Had a great time pushing myself to interact with others. I was free to wander and got to experience so much.

Yes!!! That's the best way to do it. Being free to bounce around and do anything was amazing,I was invited to countless camps to party/ stay the night , eat amazing food. In all honesty I forgotten where my camp was but everything I needed was on my bike or backpack. It was so fun.
