Oshi No Ko Season 2 sure has been a wild ride, the Tokyo Blade arc has always been one of my favourites in the manga, and Doga Koba did not disappoint. With the season drawing to a close very soon, Ruby will finally be getting some development, and if you're an anime only, all I can say is the symbolism and imagery in this ED means more than you might think.
The defining feature of this song is that distorted grainy guitar, that plays a drone like accompaniment throughout almost the entire thing. Hence a lot of my arrangement lives in the bottom register of the piano, making full use of the resonance from the bass notes. It's about as close as solo piano can get to emulating that timbre, which realistically is only possible on guitar. For the melody, there are many vocal layers and some call/response in the chorus, which I tried to preserve with the right hand as well. Of course, I don't have the liberty of pitch bending or sliding, but hitting some of those dissonant flat thirds (Db) was key to giving the song its moody feel.
The summer anime season is ending very soon, and I'm excited to start covering some OPs in the fall! Stay tuned for more.
