Winston rodney is the TRUTH.... He is however, a peculiar Rasta man.. I remember back in 1996 going to SUNO in New Orleans, running across some Jamaican athletes. I brought up Burning spear and they had some disparaging comments. Fast forward to 2017 in LA, we were talking bout setting up a show, I brought up bringing da spear on board, everybody evolved said he was too expensive, costing from 30,000 upwards and his accommodation were too much.. I still love his sound and his chants. A true legend

mmmm i dont think so he is forgotten, who knows about TOP class reggae roots, for sure know about the Spear just is not Bpb Marley basically any other artist than Bob or Gregory, Buju B.... can be name as forgotten , anyway, this man is a true living legend, his discography is the most complete reggae discografy you can ever hear from any reggae artist( just Isaacs or Midnite/Akae Beka, but mostly time they didnt produce they full albums, but Spear produced and arranged all his catalog) so The Spear is a Maestro and Teacher of how a very good true reggae roots music need to be played and composed.... his Fittest of the Fittest album blew my mind in that moment and made me fall in love with reggae roots, since that day im into reggae 100000%... thanks to the BURNING SPEAR for all his amazing albums , heavy riddims,deep lyrics, to the soul..... bless up

I love Burning Spear I went to one of his concet few years back I have never forgotten, if you now your Black History you would be able to relate to his music. In my opinion he doesn't care what people say about him He is real. I give him all the respect he never disrespect black women in his music, If we listen to Burning Spear music it teaches you about your Black hisory for those who don't now who they are... a very humble and realman that sing about his history without any apology; Blessing and respect goes out to him

I remember when I heard Burning Spear first time. I was a kid of 7 at that time, laying in a hospital. My father brought me a Walkman with a few tapes. One of them was Burning Spear live in Paris. He told me "I like that guy much more than Bob Marley, it's just more authentic and he has a great riddim"... I was shocked! But... somehow today I have to agree. Bob put Reggae on the world's stage, and has to be respected for all he did. But for me, Winston stood true to his style, and closer to the his original reggae sound, which can't be and wasn't copied in any way until this day.

Yes that's the term: NATIONAL HERO. SUCH A SHAME. In America and Britain, stars like Elvis and Beatles are ingrained into their cultural psyche in movies, Vynil, literature, exposés, and even in intellectual discussion...But seeming these mew generation of young Jamaicans seem less "cultural".. Legendary Nyabinghi drummer and promoter Ras Michael once complained about this..

Forgotten is too strong of a term for describe his contributions. I woulda just say most people, particularly the younger generation, ain't familiar. And that ain't neccesarily him or anybody else's fault. He is one of the few artists from an era where roots music was real dominant and it would seem that brand of reggae lost a bit of its luster. And with the surge of neo-roots (from artists such as chronixx, Jah9 and even Aurtachii) his music may fall through the cracks. Why Bob's name is more recognized has to do with the legacy he has that lives on through his children.
@hansfrantz66584 жыл бұрын
there are just 2 relevant winstons in this world.. ;) he is a pioneer and thx to HIM he is still around.

How would Bob Marley be a national hero? Really? 🙄🙄🙄 both burning spear and Peter Tosh are the real deal. This author is so anti Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. I wonder why?
@Amaryahu4 жыл бұрын
*He’s been programmed. We must understand they put Bob Marley in the forefront when he debuted One Love because it went along with Babylon’s policy of all for one, one for all. They kept ALL of Bob Marley true values and morales away from mainstream. They wanted him for ALL ppl. But just like Spear, Marley was a true dreadlock. Check out his interview with Jacob Miller. Bob spilled the beans in that interview. Kept it 1000 to the max!* *Shalom (Peace) Sister!* 💯👑
