I think burnout is often normalised in high pressure academic environments, but it is a legitimate struggle that deserves to be addressed. Thank you for a great video! I’m sure a lot of people will find is reassuring that you are going through this and seeking help too. All the best.

This was such an honest and relatable video that I totally resonate with. I had an offer from Cambridge for maths for which I had to do STEP and I found it so hard, overworked myself so much, put way too much pressure on myself just cause it was Cambridge and isolated myself from everyone, and burnt out so that I completely messed up the actual exam. Now I'm actually so glad I got rejected from Cambridge and I've used this experience to realise the importance of work-life balance. I'm excited to be going to Durham this autumn and never working so hard again!

Awesome for you to be so open about your struggles Sam as well as identifying and explaing your thoughts so well. Glad that you got round to saying you're in touch with Uni about helping out :) However I think I've found the problem, you're doing ELECTRICAL engineering. The one discipline that all other disciplines hate. You're on the dark side! You were the chosen one.

l say this as someone whose car is usually close to breaking point, before l do something about it. It's okay to take time off, to remind yourself why you started and reconnect with what excites you. I hope you find balance again. Just, take it easy 💚

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with this, I especially empathize with what you mean about losing the joy of the things you used to enjoy doing. Make sure to take good care of yourself, it's okay to not upload, not do other people's odd jobs, to look out for yourself 💙 and remember that completing your degree at ox is in and of itself a monumental thing to do. I will be starting my degree there next month and if you want someone to talk to about this stuff feel free to reach out any time :) (an email address is on my about page I think)
