We took another beautiful scenic drive called Burr Trail which starts out in the town of Boulder, Utah and continues all the way down into Capitol Reef National Park. This drive takes you through The Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and includes a slot canyon, a couple campgrounds, dispersed camping, hiking trails and if you choose you can take it all the way through Capitol Reef. Once we completed that drive we enjoyed Rout 12 again stopping at the Calf Creek Overlook and the Hog Back. To finish out a great day we stopped at Kiva Coffeehouse which is located along Rt. 12 near the Escalante River. This is all beautiful scenic driving and one that you won't soon forget once you get to experience it!

Now I absolutely have to go to Utah. Amazing. So much so that it doesn't look real. I've traveled in NM & AZ and now it's time for UT.

It's neat to imagine all of the indians, settlers, cowboys etc that have come before in places like this. Imagine all the things that have transpired just in one area like this, over the years.

Lived here in Utah for about 60 years, and i have never seen the Burr trail. Thanks! I would say it is physically impossible to see everything in this state.

I worked for UDOT and the Burr Trail went just past your overlook to incredibly narrow dirt switchbacks to Notam Rd. off of State Road 24. It was washboard gravel all the way to the switchbacks of the Burr Trail. My van had red sand for years after doing that road. We were working out of Hanksville doing traffic analysis.

I need to get back to southern Utah--it's been too many years. I've driven Scenic Highway 12 many times off the western edge of Thousand Lake Mountain (as it is known up by Torrey) or the Aquarius Plateau (as it is known when viewed from Bryce Canyon), and the Hogback is part of that stretch. People who have a fear of heights need to stay focused on the pavement :) If you had stayed on Burr Trail Road past Long Canyon all the way to the switchbacks south of Capitol Reef, you'd have another overlook opportunity that provides a sweeping view of the Waterpocket Fold with the Henry Mountains as the backdrop--a stunning view that you guys would love. The switchbacks will take you down the western face of the Fold to Notom Road, which connects to roads that cross the Henry Mountains and work their way up to Hanksville. But don't take the trailer on that excursion. That's a good one to add to a return trip. Hole-in-the-Rock Road is more challenging--you'll have to cross the whole width of the Escalante Basin.

Only such much time in a day, and only so much time at each stop. Pick and choose what you want to see and save the rest for next visit. Like we said, the amount of activities are vast!

Alright, Abby and Adam. New standing rules: 1. Get the map. If one is available, get it. 2. Keep the map with you. You've now had two videos in a row where you mentioned something like "I wish we had the map with us.". So get the map and keep the map until it's no longer relevant. I suspect if I went back through the videos, I would find other similar situations. 🙂 Thanks for taking us along on this adventure. That slot canyon was very impressive. 👍

I’ll bet that tree Abby hugged was probably over 200 years old. I don’t remember if you guys ever got a chance to go to sequoia. National park. Those trees are probably over a thousand years old. It’s amazing. How long they live. If you haven’t been there I’ve heard that’s another tourist stop for sure.

That was Long Canyon you drove through. I first went through it in 1969 when it was unpaved and it took a few hour because the road was so rough. We didn't mind because we really got to slowly enjoy the scenery. It stayed unpaved for a long time because whenever it came up to be paved, people would object and get it blocked. It was controversial, but as you can see it finally got paved.

Thanks for filming US-12 & Burr Trail Rd. Excellent video. We drove both back in 2021, in my opinion, better than Zion. Like you guys, we stayed at Kodachrome Basin State park. The road thru Colorado National Monument Park is on par with Burr Trail Rd.

@@AbomAdventures Oh that is cool… How would one look into work like that? Is it your business? Are you hiring? Lol sorry for so many questions. I am currently not employed and would love to work from home as well…………… We watch your show all the time. My husband has a Traeger and works with a guy that does BBQ as well. The fun things we have done on our Traeger is Pizza and S’mores. And funny thing is.. My husband is from Ely, Nevada… It is always colder there ( we live in Salt Lake City, Utah) The train 🚦🚂 is always a fun time…You know you are home when you hear the train whistle. For Christmas it turns into the Polar express 🚂 You get to wear your pajamas and they punch your magic ticket and get served hot chocolate! My husbands parents used to dress as Santa and Mrs. Claus. They would go up towards Ruth, Nevada where the train turns around, and set up a “santa village” and give out candy canes. Yes!!!!!! It was Very cold… Anyway glad you showed us your videos and that you enjoyed the train. See now you have to go back during Christmas 😃
