Most Hummingbirds normally have 1 to 3 eggs per brood and 1 to 3 broods a year. Female Hummingbirds do 100% of the feeding and raising of the chicks, so large broods take too much energy. 2 eggs is the most common.

Yes, they can only really fit 2 eggs into the nest at each clutch.
