Thanks for the melodies. I was very sad to hear today of the passing of another true genius of music, Burt Bacharach. His striking syncopated rhythmic patterns unusual chord progressions, irregular phrasing, frequent modulation and odd and changing meters characterise Bacharach’s genius. Being not so strong vocally, short notes lead the way in most of his wonderful melodies. I say a little prayer, The look of love .“Do you know the way to San Jose?” Raindrops keep falling on my head and so on. RIP.

I loved seeing Burt composing with the orchestra "Nikki". They used that piece for the intro music for movies of the week on American television too - very sentimental about hearing it - especially now that I know how it was written. Seeing Vikki Carr tearing up while singing - Well, we all know how she feels. But watching Burt in concert barely able to contain himself at the piano because he's ENGRAINED in every note & part of every composition is always a sight to see too. He was that way all of his career. He became the orchestra. Absolutely amazing. 👑 As a teen in the late 60s early 70s & a hippy type into R&R & Motown etc I also had a mad crush on Burt Bacharach. 😁✌🌼🌻💟 Sammy Davis Jr was always an amazing talent across the board as well. His acting blew me away. He could do it all & DID. 👑 I appreciate your Anthony Newly as well but am not as familiar with his body of work obviously so was glad to see this. The theme sung by Vikki Carr, where she overlaps -"Take it easy for yourself" and "Knowing when to leave"-, is of a technical realization and executed with a unique voice,... something out of what we are used to hearing It has left me without enough words to describe it...

Let me extend a heartfelt "Thank You, Burt!" on behalf of our American people for your IMMENSE contribution, as God's tonal blessing upon us. You are indeed a "NATIONAL TREASURE". Your "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" album is a masterpiece back in 1969 at Ohio State University. Amazing to think, you were given the ultimate choice to give up on piano lesson at your parents' dismay, and then you chose to persevere on your own volition when there was no coercion. Old age humbles the heart in repentance for the several things we wish could erase and do differently, yet rejoice for all the wonderful relationships and blessings we shared with others. May the blessings of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, be upon you and your family as you leave this house for your eternal home. THANK YOU, BURT BACHARACH!

@@denton115 I'm 76, my parents use to take us Las Vegas to see the Rat Pack and every broadway show that came to LA. Anthony Newly was a favorite. Those were the days. Las Vegas, The El Rancho Hotel, The Sands, The Desert Inn, great properties with lovely showrooms. We all dressed up for the evening. Not like today, jeans and sneekers. I'm retired in the south of France... I miss the good old days!

Burt Bacharach was the pop music composer of the 1960s. David Foster was the pop rock composer of the 1980s. Both legends and the music of our lives.
