Nice retrofit, thanks for sharing. The center of the hub looks like it could use a cap of some sort. Cheers
@BurtonsAttic4 жыл бұрын
Great idea Rick. If I turned down the hub to the right height I could just pop the center cap on, Thanks

It’s only the beginning. The van will be the cheapest part of the project 😁

So far I've been doing a good job of keeping costs down but a van is much like a boat, a hole in the water in which you throw money...

You can deflate the tire, then it just squeezes up....Put a strap around it to secure it fully....Not a problem with the tire being deflated, and use a cheap electric tire pump that goes to 100 psi if you need it.. Just another option if people don't wish to relocate the spare..

Nice upgrade if you go with a decal heater they are quite and efficient dont get the cheep ones you can get online.i did in my Sprinter and bernd up 2 pumps but I was running it 24 7 doing oversized escorting in the winter. You can get better ones a kenworth or perterbelt freightliner. Or if you really wont to get fancy thermoking has an app that dose a/c heat and 110 power. But there a bit heavy. Good luck

Looks really nice!! I have a question... So the new sticker from Quigley that was added to your door. Did the GVWR changed? If so did it go up or down. I ask because of towing reasons.

How's your mpg and have you taken this on soft sand with the tires aired down? I really want one of these but it needs to be able to go on soft sand
@BurtonsAttic3 жыл бұрын
I haven't done soft sand, beach driving yet. I want tooooo! It is a heavy beast but it should work. MPG is around 15 now with the 4x4 and larger tires/wheels. That's using the built in calculator which is off some amount because of the tires. I haven't worked out MPG manually yet. Before any work/stock the van would get 17mpg. Also I'm still lite in the back.

looks more like a spare wheel mount :P have to be pedantic when people say tyre when its a wheel lol
@BurtonsAttic4 жыл бұрын
Even when you really know the difference people still do it as if there one. In the US everyone calls it a "spare" or spare tire. If you said spare wheel you would get looks of confusion I'm sure. Btw it's tire not tyre, lol

Unless your going to the beach, Utah sand dunes or rock crawling you will never need to reduce your air pressure.

Rock crawling is not on the agenda but going down a rough road with bagged tires definitely is.
