Damn I like the tone you're getting from the pickups. How do you feel like the fishman changed the sound of the bass vs the stock pickups? I'm thinking about doing some mods on my SR 505 and I like how focused your tone is towards the rear pickup here.

Thanks! I personally like the fishman pickups. They come straight with a modern tone that you can easily adjust with the EQ on your bass. Definitely more output as the stock pickups, which makes it sound more massive in my opinion. Also I think it's more low end than the stock ones, but in a good and balanced way

That sounds like i will like them. Doesnt mean im going to play as well as you do but I'm definitely sounding similar. Between my Warwick and the ibanez its hard to choose what sounds best. So what do you like for strings? 😊​@@paularrr

@@garrydhintz8017 I am sure you are a great bass player! ☺ Also Warwick and Ibanez are both great bass brands :) For strings I prefer pro steels by d'addario. For my play style they fit best in terms of touch and crisp, but I wouldn't rely on the strings too much for your tone. When your tone from gear settings is right, the strings won't make that big of a difference imo!

@@paularrr very interesting take. I find strings do a lot in my tone. However i notice that your tone is dirtier with your neural and darkglass stuff and i find that it bakes in certain tones moreso than clean preamps. Im kind of old school in that i use strings for the brightness and rely on that for the growl in my sound. I see how pro steels work for what you're doing. I like the attack and bite they have. LaBella rx steels, Dean Markley Blue Steels are my favorites. Compared to pro steels they tend to have a little bit more depth when you play on them. Similar bite as you pluck but there's a richness to the note that makes it sound so huge. A lot will come down to amps and speakers but especially going direct to headphones or monitors I swear by those. Blue steels for Warwick and LaBella for the ibanez. But both sound good with either. Ive been listening to your videos and i really like your tone with the k5 the best of anything. You have some beautiful basses and i love seeing you share. Ive been thinking about youtubing my gear and not sure if I'd rather do talk and demos or cover songs i like more.
