Yes, it took about 2 months to build. We love it though. Having the insulated storage space is really nice.

That was beautiful! Do you have a video on remaking the dash area and meters? I want to do that as well with my bus.
@thehardway4068 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! We don’t have a video about the dash currently, but I do have a decent amount of footage. It was one of the harder millwork projects because the dash has so many angled features and I built it so that it can be disassembled for service.

Replacing differential? Oh for crying out loud! How do you know how to do that? One of several reactions I had during this video. Where do you guys get all this talent at such young ages? Sincerely, a less talented 59 year old.

They are obviously in a professional repair facility with all great tools that come with.
@thehardway406Ай бұрын
@@edeg1 we were able to use a family members heavy equipment shop for the first few months of the build. The biggest help were the lifting jacks that can raise the whole bus up into the air. They made working on the underbay storage much easier. The rest of the build took place outside for the most part. Thanks for watching!

Hello I really love your bus build. It’s is very well done. My wife and I are building one right now and I really like your curtains. I know you did the snaps yourselves but did you make the curtains as well? If not would you be willing to share where you got them? Thanks for the great content!
@thehardway40621 күн бұрын
Thanks you! Emily made all of the curtains herself. She sewed the reflectics insulation into the curtains for temperature control. It was a major undertaking. Thanks for watching!

I gotta say I am loving this bus conversion! It’s so cool how much you guys did and built to make it uniquely yours! I especially love the orange and white paint job it gives it a very retro 70s VW bus vibe that I am digging. I gotta be a bit nosy and ask a couple of questions if it’s alright; when you were raising the roof how much did you guys lift it up by? The title says 80k, was that your budget starting out or was that what you spent total on everything by the end? Also how much was the bus by itself? Cheers guys, you did a fantastic job!
@thehardway406Ай бұрын
Thank you so much! We actually used a retro VW bus paint job for inspiration. We raised the roof 18 inches. The 80k figure was our cost for the entire project including the bus which was 7k . Thank you so much for watching!

Thanks! We do not have any regrets about the effort we put into the build, We wanted a space that is nice enough to enjoy living in for a few years. We have loved having the opportunity to travel the country while still working full time and we love the ability to stay with family for extended periods of time without being a burden on them. Our house goes wherever we are! Thanks for watching!

Do I see that you have Vermont plates on your bus? Is that where you are living?
@thehardway40621 күн бұрын
You are very observant. For a time, it was very easy to register school bus conversions in Vermont. We just had to send in the paperwork and a check, and they sent the plates. Now it is not quite as easy. We are originally form South Dakota but we've bought land in Idaho and have started on the property improvements.
