Those old trains you pointed at belong to the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, it runs from Nelsonville Ohio to Logan Ohio. Back in the 1970's - 80's the train ran to the south of Nelsonville and passed 15 feet from my grandma's porch... and it was a steam locomotive they used back then!

Scott , that rail line you passed in Logan I worked as a locomotive mechanic and the last 11 years of my career as an engineer . It currently is in commercial use all the way to Columbus . From Logan south to Nelsonville it is operated as The Hocking Valley Scenic excursion where the public can ride their trains . Anyway I enjoy your videos , wishing you and your family safe travels and a good Thanksgiving .

When I have to park my H3-45 in a place like Walmart I’ll always take about 1/2 of the parking spot in front and 1/2 of the space behind me. If not, there’s always someone who wants to park in the space right in front of my bus. Even if you’re all the way out in the lot somewhere there’s always one goober that wants to pin you in. People in 4-wheelers act stupid anytime they get near a bus.

Glad to hear Kelly is still around and talking ... some people thought we scared her off with our comments, but I figured she had tougher skin than most gave her credit for. I will apologize, right now, however, if she took my joking around the wrong way. I am sorry, Kelly, as you are a fun and integral part of the Bus Grease Monkey team. The belt scene illustrates why the 4101-2-3, despite being less."luxurious" than the 3751, was pretty popular with primary and secondary operators...no belts. GM decided that maintenance costs of belt drives was a concern for operators both in the bus and rail industries. Both GM Truck and Coach and Electro-Motive converted their products to gear drive at about the same time, 1946-49. The PD-4101 went to all gear drive accessories, both on the prime mover and the AC unit in 1946 They missed drive belt on the evaporator fan motor, though! I seem to remember GM T&C going all gear drive on the transits in '47, back when they started their "streetcar elimination" sales campaign, which later was the nexus of some contentious lawsuits which GM lost. EMD made the change on their F2 freight road units in 1946, and the passenger E8s in 1949, both using pancake fan motors developed by Delco for EMD. GM made a big deal about this new cost saving design...so that the buyer would pay GM more up front, rather than pay Gates Rubber later. The conversion helped boost reliability which helped both GM Coach and EMD to be the runaway leaders in their markets. Both lost those positions when GM started its downward management spiral, with MCI running GM out of the bus business, and GE doing the same to EMD later. GM had become entitled and complacent, and competition ate their lunch across the board.

I think the best way to look after these old vehicles is to run them gently, don't hammer the living daylights out of them, simply let them cruise down the highway in top gear at around 55 mph, the engine will happily find its sweet spot and once there will run and run. 1000 to 1500 RPM and she'll sing all day long
