Scott, one consideration when replacing a turbo: these old turbos are a really archaic design, decades old and way lower on efficiency compared to modern standards. You can buy modern turbos that will bolt in (or sometimes require minor changes). When I needed a new turbo on my Cat 3126B in my diesel pusher RV I did this (went a hair larger size wise) and the results have been fantastic. Lower EGTs, lower IATs, just better performance all around and a bit better fuel economy. I don't think a turbo swap is worth doing just for the sake of doing (unless you're trying to go for more power) but if it's out anyway, may as well. What I bought was definitely cheaper than a reman from the Cat dealer, but that's not saying much. Cost wasn't much different vs. a 3rd party reman. Just a thought, but of course I'm always tweaking my bus.

Turbo boost gauge hoses are small but they also have a tiny orafice in them somewhere so they don't react too quickly. It wouldn't take much to block that tiny orafice.

I thought "low oil pressure" on an old detroit was 0. In all seriousness, I had a boat with twin 350HP 8V-71N engines that were easy to start and when warm produced little/no smoke at ANY power setting. When hot at idle, oil pressure was scary low on both engines (just off ZERO). High speed hot oil pressure could be down in the mid-upper 20s. I ran DELO 100 SAE40. Fuel was not getting into the oil. Totally trouble free except for marine related raw water plumbing issues that are seperate from the engines. The little boy in me wants a bus with an 8V-92TA that I can turn up the horsepower on (pending drive train capabilities). Detroit sold these engines to yacht manufacturers with a 735HP rating, though they will die very young if operated there for more than very brief periods.

Isn't Monteagle Mountain advertised as having a 5% or 6% grade according to the highway signs? I've never seen more than 2% or 3% on my GMC's driver's information center. I was just through the area again 2 days ago.

It’s 4-6% over 4 + miles. Steep up and down. It’s cooked a bunch of engines and burnt some brakes as well.

Hello I have send few different messages about asking you if you knew anyone that had a Bus RV. It don't need to be reel big. I am single. I am in a wheelchair I started building one out of a Shuttle bus. Has a Duramax Allison 6 speed. It a 2012 run great pulls my 16 ft trailer with my Can-Am great. It just isn't big enough for just me. I love watching your KZbin channel. I thought I would ask if you knew someone had on for sale?? I only have 17 ft from behind driver seat to the back window. Can you let me know if you have one for sale??please!!! I just need it wide enough for my wheelchair to get from driver seat to the back where the bed is.hope you can help.
