Very cool JT! And I thought Wax Myrtle was nothing but trash! Learned something new. I need to learn to ID Sassafrass. If you have it where you live I should too I would think.

@timber4560 I'm sure you do. The leaves are very distinct. If you've ever seen mulberry leaves, they're pretty much the same. They have 3 different leaf types on one plant. Very unique. Sassafras leaves can be unlobed, mitten-shaped, or three-lobed. They are usually 4-6 inches long and 2-4 inches wide, with a tapered base and a pointed or rounded tip. Mulberry leaves are smooth and waxy looking, sassafras leaves are fuzzy. You'll know you found it when you scratch the root bark and it smells like root beer. One of my favorite plants.
