When Nyiyaparli Elder David Stock mentioned a concern about a plant commonly used for bush medicine to Roy Hill representatives at a meeting, discussion started about working together to record traditional knowledge about plants and their uses. Using their expansive knowledge, plants were identified around the mine site and recorded with the assistance of a Pilbara-based botanist. The information captured during the time on Nyiyaparli country will not only be used in Roy Hill’s rehabilitation, it will preserve this knowledge for future generations.
