I did this trail early this year from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves, then back to Katoomba. It was absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend it.

Thanks for making this great video. We did the track in the same direction as you did it on Sep 26-28 2016. There are pros and cons about starting at either ET or Jenolan, starting from Jenolan the second day is easier as it more downhill than uphill. But the final hour of the third day (when you are really tired) is very hard as it is about 500 steps at the end. We met only two 4X4s on the track in the second day and no motorcycles so it was a lovely peaceful walk. There is no water between Black ridge campsite and Little river, we were fortunate that the water tank at Black ridge had been filled by recent rain, if you are doing the walk after a dry spell maybe Black ridge would not have any water and it would be hard to do the walk without either carrying a lot of water on your back or having some kind of support. We stopped in for a coffee at the Eco lodge and it was a lovely place, nice people running it, I had a look at the dorms and they looked very comfy and warm particularly after spending a cold night in a nasty cheap tent at Coxs river campground. Our group was two 40 something adults, a 13 year old and an 11 year old. I was concerned that our youngest one would find it tough but he was great, it was the oldies that did the moaning. If you would like to do part of the six foot track as a day walk the part between Megalong cemetery ( 2wd car access) and Bowtells swing bridge or the eco lodge is very scenic and not too taxing, sitting on the rocks by the river next to the bridge is a lovely spot for a pic-nic.

Barry Harte I'm glad you enjoyed my video. It's a nice walk and I'm sure I would enjoy doing it again one day. I think I'd rather do it as a two day trip staying at the Eco lodge and not taking any camping gear at all. And paying the little extra to have them make breakfast and lunch for day two. I have since walk part of the Camino in Spain and can now pack much lighter and don't mind the fire trails and roads. I may try the other exit to narrow neck next time for something different. Your keen taking an 11 and 13yr olds but saying that I would have loved for my parents to have taken me on one such adventure. My mate use to drop water at locations and mark them on a map a few days before that seemed to work for him. I'm going to Uluru next week so lookout for something that's not in the blue mountains, for a change. Chris

Thanks for sharing Chris, a great video and a nice naught in to what we can expect. Would you say walking from Jenolan to Katoomba is the best way? Do the views get better as you go along and towards the mountains? Dean

Dean Read thanks for watching. I liked walking that way as the views were beautiful and you could always have your end goal in sight. the first nights camp wasn't to far away.
