Hey mate, awesome video. Sorry for the long comment ahead. I've got a Hennessy XL Explorer hammock and a Hex fly from Hennessy as well. It's a little big I think to pack down into one of David's packing bags but I'm going to give it a crack anyway. If I have to, I was thinking of buying a more compact tarp and after hearing you say you don't rate the one you're currently using, could you suggest an alternative? I also use an "Alton Goods" 850 underquilt and an unbranded but relatively good, down packed sleeping bag, which I also doubt would reduce down to fit into one of David's packs. Considering getting a down quilt to get rid of the sleeping bag and save some space. I also wanted to reduce my cooking kit down to something similar to yours. I was looking at the Trangia cooker but even that doesn't save much more space than my little gas burner. I love that you've gone as minimalist as you have, I just don't have the trust in those little alcohol burners that I probably should. I was actually thinking of getting the Singi 48 with the two side attachments because I think what I have, even after condensing it, is still a little bulkier than your setup.

Hey bud! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm happy to help where I can. Where are you based? It might help with my responses. Tarp wise, I've now changed. I use the warbonnet superfly. It's pricey but managed to get a used one, so not too bad and in my opinion worth the money. It packs tiny and it even bigger than the dd superlight. The superlight is good, I just felt I could get better. After having the superfly I squally realise how good the dd superlight is, for the money it's a great option.

I think you'll be surprised what you can fit in the friars pouches. They're around 8-10 ltrs which will fit most down sleeping bags etc. I've got a winter down sleeping bag in one! As far as quilts, take a look at the cumulus range. I have the selva 300 and 450 underquilts and now the tiaga 250 quilt. Really rate their products. I can get the selva 300 underquilt and tiaga 250 quilt into one friars pouch and that will cope with down to 2°c. Stoves wise I now use the speedster stove, it packs tiny and has an integral pot stand. It's no good for cooking, but when in the woods I use a fire for cooking. I only use the stove for water boiling and coffee. Gas burner like the brs 3000t (check amazon) and gas canister are similar in size, but maybe more versatile.

Sorry having to check your message and then respond, so each time I have to leave my response. The trangias and alcohol burners, I would argue are more reliable. Less to go wrong. I also have the singi 48, use it more for longer camps and winter. It's definitely more flexible due to size, but I prefer the smaller option. Having the 48 with side pockets means you can easily swap to the 28 and just move the pockets across. This is what I do! Let me know if I can help any more. Kevin

Love this pack layout and have just bought the bag and will be buying the friars bags. All I would say is that you seem to have a lots more stuff than you would ideally need. Two saws plus an axe plus several knives is a little overkill for a night or even two in the local woods.

Hey, thanks for the top comment, im glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah the Stubben is a great pack, Ive recently sold my old one (was tough to see it go!). But in my opinion the singi is better in many ways. Its taken me a long time to get to this point, lots of slow upgrade, it can be a costly exercise/hobby!. I have lots of plans for this year, including a trip to sweden bushcrafting and canoeing, or some long distance hikes and summits if thats your kind of thing! Keep in touch KB

Im glad you enjoyed it Andy! It was an interesting process to film, and as I do with my kit, I've pulled the video to pieces in my head a thousand times already! I think it gives an idea of my thought process and why those choices were made. Its a real shame DD seem to have gone the way that they have, but I think they're likely just responding to pressure from Cheaper foreign brands. Careful with the spork on the side pocket, got same setup spork and vidda pro, I tripled over a wet log and the spork went right through the pants and into the leg, haha.. i dont do that anymore 😂🎉

@Kpgav95 yes absolutely. I use both the singu 28 and 40 something. The singing is used nearly all year with the exception of very cold days or when I want luxuries. If your strict with your packing the 28 will do most short trips. I also do alot of hiking and lightweight type trips which are less bushcraft, so weight is more of a consideration. On those trips I use hiking style packs. Glad you enjoyed, let me know if I can help any more!

@@wildcampingkev been loving the wild camping for a long time just don't get to do enough! That conifer setting looks just like the woodland up pen. Can't beat it this time of year. DD ain't that bad. I've got a dd frontline xl hammock and a 3.5 sq tarp, it's all I could get on with being a bfg 😂, works pretty well even with woopie slings. Look forward to seeing the next video 👍🏼

Much smaller and lighter than my normal DD 3m tarp. I keep mine in stuff sack in front of bag with everything I need in there because I don’t like putting wet things in pack

Hey, sorry for late reply youtubes doing something odd to the channel. Yes very good point and it wasnt obvious. I keep a Osprey lightweight dry bag in the bottom of the side pocket. Ill throw it in there if its needed. Thats keeps it away from dry kit until I get to a new camp or home. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed! Kev

They're made in America but a company called henge hammocks Imports them I think. I've had Eno hammocks, the Dd front line, I have experience with the a couple of other brands also, so if I can help with anything drop me a message and I'm happy to help.
