I first did a video on my brew kit/solo cook kit about 15 months ago and have had quite a few questions from newer subscribers about this kind of thing. So instead of directing everyone back to the original video, as there have been a few changes to this and my cook set has evolved quite a bit, I thought I would do this first of two videos to show this kit and how it workls for me now. The second video will be on the rest of my cooking capabilities.

That is a really great kit Jedi and remember "When the price is long forgotten the quality is always remembered" I really like the bag too, oh and the cup and the bottle and do you know what the soup looked good too. Brilliant kit. And a lovely spot in the woods for your shelter JEALOUS !!!!!

A very true statement indeed buddy! The quality of these items should ensure a lifetime of use! Hopefully the shelter will work out well. Its going to take some time to get ready but through the summer I will be working on it so that come winter I will have somewhere more stable and solid to stay. Cheers!

Hey Rob mate! Thanks for the kind words! Its a fantastic site, very secluded, plenty of materials. No I probably wont use ferns for thatching, there are plenty of boughs around that will stay green for a while, and also this will probably be used more for a winter retreat for me and my brother when the chance of rain is low and snow is high! :-) I plan a funky type of construction that will allow the use of my hammock as the bed, if it all comes to plan! lol! Cheers my friend!

Among the many, I use the same basic set up. Though with a Trangia and GSI cup. I've been trying for quite some time to find a stainless container like the one you've used for your bush stove. I've searched thrift stores, kitchen stores, and the "big box" chain stores with no luck. I've seen a few on youtube, and always seem to be from someone across the pond. After taking a break, and now seeing this, the search continues. Nice set up. Thanks for sharing.

I've got a cheap version of this kit, most of it's from bargain shops but it's all stainless steel and worked a treat right through the winter. Now it's (sometimes) warming up I'll revert back to the US GI canteen cook system as I don't need to put tea in the flask for later against the cold, a good bit of kit and we all know the brew kit is the most important!!!

nicely assembled kit, jedi. and nithin wrong with clean pots either.. the only time i think a sooted black pot is beneficial is if you were distance hiking and had to make the most out of your alcohol burning when you couldnt build a fire, but thats pretty specific. nice spot in the woods you found there too.. enjoy!

Easiest way to remove the hobo stove from your bag: Put your hand into the stove, make a fist, pull your fist out while holding the bottom of the bag. Well thought out kit.

I found an old canvas strap with brass buckles that was used for some sort of government tote bag. Mail Carrier is the jist I am getting from it. I attached two spring loaded clips to the ends with soldered brass rod formed into a triangle. I salvaged a leather strap abrasion shrouding from other places and use that as a shoulder piece to spread out the weight. The strap clips connect to rings on either side of the maxpedition bag. I should take some video to show it put together.

I really need to modernise my equipment, i have an old metal cup which i think belonged to my granddad, you might know the type, white enamel camping mug with a blue rim? I have no idea how old it is, it could be from 20 - 50 years old. They were really popular as a kid. quite large so good for a brew, beans cuppa soup or insant noodles, pop it straight on the burner and drink or eat from the mug, i just have to make sure i bring my billy grips or a workmans glove. For day hikes, I still use the same Hex burner i had from when i was a cadet, British army issue, it must be about 25 years old, a bit tatty but i just prefer the steel old ones. i have newer but i don't like the cheap flimsy aluminum quality of it, so i just keep replacing the hex tablets. Great for camping, day hiking, fishing or just a spare cooking system. Really like the pouch you keep your brew kit in.

Hi, thanks for watching! Its a stainless steel burner made by Tatonka, very reasonably priced through a well known online shopping site at about £7 or £8 I believe. Great bot of kit, has a decent 'O' ring in the lid so you can transport fuel inside it, I have done so on loads of occasions, and it has an indented lid so you can use it to snuff the burner out. All the best!

Wonderful Paul...although this video is 4 years old this cook and brew kit is similar to the one I take when wild camping on an open fire. The difference being that I have a Stanley cook pot with lid that nests inside the Tatonka cup and the stainless Nalgene bottle nesting in the Stanley pot...the Stanley loud also fits the Tatonka cup. I have a fish gag that fits inside the top of the Nalgene to suspend it over a fire or to move it. All fits inside the condor h2o pouch. If mobile I carry my crusader cook set with a coil of fire rope and meths and where a open fire is not allowed I take my wood gas stove, summit tiffin pan and lid that stove nests inside and crusader cup. Hope that you are well. Paul :)

I know this is a few years old now but FYI your Nalgene is still just about hanging in the market but its now £28 quid.... Jeepers.... I still bought one though just two weeks ago LOL just had too..... without doubt it is a good tried and tested system... thanks for sharing ...Oh and by the way I also dont give a hoot about the how quick the water boils, and if another chap gets a brew thirty seconds before me then great that means they can go fetch some more fire wood when they have finished before me also.. :-) cheers Maff
@jediknightofthewoods
@jediknightofthewoods 9 жыл бұрын
+Maff T totally agree! Time to boil is completely irrelevant in the woods, time is an entirely new concept in the woods not measured by seconds minutes and hours, but by the conditions, seasons and events. ok a lid may help keep debris out of your pot, or it may prevent all the contents being spilled if you happen to tip a pot over (anyone thats never tipped a pot over on the camp fire has either never done it or has not done it enough times! lol!). One of the biggest challenges I see in people outdoors is transferring a society based reliance on a need to run to times and deadlines without letting go.

Thanks for watching! I bought mine from an Airsoft website based in China, they are cheap knock offs of the Maxpedition kit, although there is a brand called Condor that I believe do this puch as well, a lot cheaper than Maxped though! or you can get a 32 oz. stainless bottle from the pathfinder school, good size for water purification tabs (32 oz to the shoulders of the bottle). I got these because the squared off (not tapered) Guyot bottles aren't very available, and when found can be near $50 U.S. Nalgene says they will have more (of which version, i don't know) in April.
