It is always good to see you, Susanne, and to hear your ideas especially here on KZbin. You are a competent observer. You have your own way of doing things, and I like that. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

I’m so glad you like my little rambles. I learn things like I am about 8 years old. 👍😎

Great tips Susanne. I feel like I've learned a couple of things from this video. Great techniques for spotting something/someone hard to see.

Cool! Glad you like, shall I do some more like it?

Hi there Susanne .. An interesting technique .. gives it structure 👍. Call it 6x6? .. Six trees in through a 2x3 set of frames 😊. Simplistically I always thought of it as 'looking into the forest' as opposed to merely looking 'at it'. Interesting enough, before coming across your Post, I was doing it this afternoon whilst taking the the little Malti-Poo on her routine pm forest walk. One definitely gets an improved 'situational awareness' I also do it watching You Tube Videos .. in the hope of seeing, there in the distance somewhere, something that the You Tuber fortunately missed / didn't experience. Bear, Wolf, Sasquatch, the Predator, a Vampire, the Alien .. something with which I can gleefully notify them ASAP, giving 'Time on Video' and a Screen Grid Reference (now I know to include how many trees in Depth) 😁. 🙄 .. oh well, one has to keep the little grey cells entertained somehow .. 😏. Take care .. stay safe .. Tommy

Scanning YT vids - awesome, what a cool practice. Brilliant. I love looking “through” the forest.

Interesting ! Never new that there was a name for this or the usage of the sixth tree. Its a bit similar like looking at a possible entry point. Cheers!

I generally do this naturally. Going to make a conscious effort next time I go out. Good info. Thanks ✌️⚔️🔥🐎

Yeah I also kind of just sweep that way, but if I’ve been spending too much time on the iphone or at remote work station / PC then I really love to do this to get my awareness “tacked out” again. It’s like a martial arts kata. Grounds me. Gets me into a proper state of sanshin also. 👍

Those are techniques taught in the U.S. military also and I still practice it when out in the local forest, especially in the warm months.
@susannewilliams3 жыл бұрын
Indeed. I first learned them formally from Brit Military. Added insights and learnings over the years including some very good US Mil guys. 👍

Wieder was gelernt und heute bei der Hunderunde direkt mal getestet.😉 Mich würde mal interessieren ob du bei Deinen Touren auch schon mal ein Fernglas benutzt hast oder ist das eher hinderlich ? LG Peter
@susannewilliams3 жыл бұрын
Fernglas ist absolut nötig! Ich mache irgendwann ein video dazu. Benutzung, coole Ubungen, wie es erst recht geil wird.

Glad to see that you didn't get carried out to sea on your glider. Where is your stick?
@susannewilliams3 жыл бұрын
Stick is only for learning / getting calibrated. And too complicated for this little video. I’ll do a video about the stick, I promise. Gliding soon again.
@tedsemonis79053 жыл бұрын
@@susannewilliams Will disagree , as you sit or stand look at point 1 to 6 " I think I saw something" place the top of the stick at that point , continue scan and come back. Stick becomes spotting scope, Also if you ae not sure use it to cut down area them keep going. ( left to stick then back then sweep) Different training form different way's ) And hope you never get the 1000 yard stare. please don't get carried away, or you will get chuckled at . 👍🖖🌹🌹💙❤💜

@@tedsemonis7905 - yes that is the training. After a bit of practice you don’t need the stick.

@@susannewilliams So you can do pace tracking by eye write a book on it. I will buy it. And never track in area were snakes are, here there are many in bushes and grass. Look up shark valley in Florida, big lizards sun on the roads and trails. 🐊😍😘 l
