@@TheLoreofBushcraft thats amazing 👏 I feel there's so much hunting and meat heavy dishes in bushcraft. In a survival situation its fine but if theres a choice, plant based is the way forward.

Exactly, survival and pure need like the Sami, the Bushman, the Eskimos. I do believe in training for self-sufficiency, such as knowing/learning the skills of hunting, trapping, fishing etc, they are all vital Bushcraft skills.

Another stunning camp in the woods, cant beat a hammock camp, that book is good, you know, with all the people on KZbin, who have woodlore knives, and people I know, your the first one I've seen use one in the field apart from Ray mears lol, most keep there knife in its box, displayed on a shelf, kinda defeats the object of a knife really, bangers and mash with onion gravy 👌👌,spot on in the woods, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig

Hi Craig, Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been in the deep woods. Right, I couldn't have designed better spots to dwell in. The book is great, yet more of a general overview in my opinion and as if he was trying to touch every subject. However, as you well know Bushcraft is more about finding things out on your own, with general guidance anyway, "self-reliance." I got the knife to be my main. I wanted something that I could rely on and not have to worry about fragility. If I had gotten the original Woodlore I would take it out for a spin periodically. If I had gotten a Stephen Cox (church pew scales) I would preserve it as a museum piece. I have the last rendition made with micarta and that thing seems be virtually indestructible! It seems to be the most well constructed knife I've ever had in my life. So, it's somewhat like Lt Wrights GNS (Go No Show) idea meaning: it's beautiful, yet meant to use. As always, thank you so much for joining me on this and many other adventures! I wish you a speedy recovery, and if not that, high tolerance. -Cheers

Love the hammock style I wish I could sleep well in one but always sleep better on the ground so can't justify forcing myself to take it out no more. Thankfully I live in a temperate climate like you and not the jungle. Smashing video! The Mossy repelant spruce in the hat hack was cool.

Hello Paul, thanks for understanding.Those bugs were doing a great job at bugging me and the spruce worked well thankfully. With Hammocks, it all depends on the quality of your hammock, I’ve tried so many best one I’ve found was Warbonnet. It is the only one I can sleep in and it is completely comfortable. I will not sleep in any hammock, but it. I’m normally a side sleeper, but I fall directly to sleep on my back with it, I can even turn sideways if I need to. I wish I could set it up in my flat and have it as my permanent bed, so… comfortable!

Absolutely a pleasure hanging out in the woods with you (virtually) for a couple days! I’m about ready for a trip myself. We’re supposed to have a cold front move through this week.... high temps only in the 90’s. Evening temps in the high 70’s ..... I found a good spot on a lake I think I can get to by the road. I sure do like some bangers and mash, that looked good. Is that a new coffee press? I bought the Snow Peak one .... I do not “love” it. I get floaters in my coffee a lot of times. It is titanium though and I’ve been using it as a cook pot... I do like it for that! Nice job, as usual on the video!!! 👍

I'm like the US postman slogan/motto. That's funny, a cold spell huh!? 😂 I wear a wet bandana around my neck and it keeps me nice and cool (Old timer style). Right, bangers&mash has always been a comfort food for me and a national dish of the UK as you may well know. It was good, I was drinking the gravy out of the pot afterwards, that's what I was drinking on that rock. The Press (this particular one) Helikon-Tex I've had since autumn, but have used my other press before that. Both are titanium and work really well. The grind has to be very fine, wait a couple of minutes, and then press the plunger down slowly, and that should help. Mine also has a very fine mesh. I wish my back would allow me to sleep in a hammock. Very simple to set and use. But I just can't do it. I do like the Kelty Noah's tarp for any diamond or plow point pitch. It has the loop supports on the diagonal rather that the square so it's perfect for that type pitch. Also has a gold "ear" so you always know how its oriented when you pull it out of the oversized stuff sack, the sack being another nice feature of that tarp.

Good to know, mind is the Aquaquest Defender tarp, I I couldn't ask for anything more. Try to Warbonnet Blackbird you can sleep flat with it. I never got any more comfortable rest in my life.

Hello Larry, It's in the Northeast of the States. Beautiful spot indeed. Although, there was a massive infestation of mosquitoes, if they were hornets you would say I hit the hornets nest. If you noticed I put Fir leaves in my ears to stop the buzzing, then smoked myself with fir smoke that I burned on the fire.They hate smoke and conifer trees. This helped out quite a bit, as well as my homemade Bug Dope that I got for reading Nessmuk. Thank for watching and your quiry!

Hi Bourne, well glad you made it back! Great that I stayed on your radar. If you haven't had cardamon in your coffee you must try it. I got the idea because I love Turkish coffee and that is one of the main ingredients contains in it. And yes, a huge ingredient in Indian cooking and beverages. Many a nights I sat in Brick lane sipping masala tea with cardamon 👍. I have seen a couple of Kent's videos, and observed he is quite fond of camp cooking. Hi Shaka Zulu, that's quite an infamous name you got there 🙂. 13kg/30lbs with food, 10kg/23lbs baseweight. I almost never carry water. My haversack usually has food items (such as bread, flour etc), my knife (for the rail ride), a book, glasses, and a camera perhaps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching!

Roger that Shaka, I actually started weighing my kit and I make sure to not go over 30lbs unless it's winter. My hikes can be up to 8 km, and I love hiking in the mountains. I don't have a vehicle of my own and take the rail in. I eat about 3 lbs a day, so 24 lb baseweight plus 6lbs of food=30lbs and 2 full days food.
