I really loved this! I love that you don't spend 8 minutes of video digging and yet there's enough to understand how you did it. I love how your dog leads the way. I don't recognise this region though - usually I can recognise it by geological features, foliage and even sometimes dirt (if it's in the states, and sometimes beyond). Where in the world are you?? It's beautiful. Also I wanted to ask you how a shelter like that performs in heavy rains? I can't determine if the embankment would be beneficial or detrimental in that situation. Is that mostly sand and clay? If so you are STRONG lol. I'd love to see more/learn more about this shelter. I have so many more questions but I'll leave it alone...for now. :-D Thanks so much for such quality uploads.

23:15 the fact that he's eating the SAME food that he feeds his own dog, plus the level of dedication to the off grid & independent life style shows a whole other level of modern man that we NEED more of. Keep it up. Show us how it's done brother!

Does not look very off grid to me. It looks like it took longer than a day to build and he was sleeping at his house in between. You can not build all of that, do the camera work, rest, poop, and have time to cook and eat and it still be daylight. He is in the woods behind his house on his private land building it. It is a great build! Just do not assume everything in KZbin world is true. If we had so called modern men like him, then we would all be living in stick houses. I think you meant primitive men. There are tons of people that build primitive structures. I have been building them since I was in the 7th grade. I enjoy it and enjoy the techniques. I think you over emphasize the term NEED!

Relax, he built a fort behind momma's house using an arbitrary selection of modern tools. Got a good chuckle when he used a steel knife and magnesium striker to start his fire, like that tech combination is somehow more authentic than a butane lighter.

Your right, it showed. And this is the first video I've seen of his. I subscribed looking forward to the other videos for the "watch and learn" aspect of what kind of effort it really takes to live off grid. @oldslowcoach 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about it, and a large hill above the structure to divert the water around it would be helpful
@Mdogbrown
@Mdogbrown 2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. Building on a hillside has its pros and cons. In the winter, this could be an excellent option. However, during spring in a climate with a lot of rainfall this could be worrisome. If there's nothing to divert the rain coming downhill this could end up in your shelter. I'm no expert though (hence why I'm watching these videos). This is an impressive shelter. Appreciate the video and the hard work that went into making this.
@seanorme2452
@seanorme2452 2 жыл бұрын
Yup. Thats an issue. There is enough timber to make a deck on stilts..much less energy spent than carving out the earth and you gonna stay above all that water pouring down the slope. Still a good structure tho.

The way you deal with your dog, shows how wonderful person you are, feeding, playing, calling him. He us for sure a healthy happy puppy. Thank you for showing us your artistic skills. Cheers from Vancouver Canada.
