Reminded me of the great bush tucker man. Well done Gordon. Made me think of including the plenty highway on our trip.

Thanks Justin, something different this time. This was actually filmed in 2016 but have not had the time to get it edited. The Plenty HWY, not that you can really call it a highway, was my favourite part of the trip.

Awesome road trip. I did Darwin to Newcastle in 6 days back in 2012 and loved every day of it. Enjoyed watching this video, Gordon :-)

It was a great trip and sadly one I don't get to make much as am too busy and don't have the time to spend 5 -6 days travelling so I fly too and fro. A trip like that you have to take your time and enjoy it so anything less than 4 days is a mad rush, the fuel and wear and tear on the vehicle the same. Glad. You liked it and thanks for watching.

Hi Gordon, great video keep them coming. I love swaging it, what type of swag do you use ? I remember the inflatable inserts 3 of we used in the army in the 80's I hope they have moved on since then, I still loved it .

Hi Gordon, great trip mate. That rock you were picking up on the Plenty is probably chalcedony. Still SiO2, different formation processes likely. Have walked much of the Plenty in the past surveying for various road project. Regards, and great work.

Great great great Really loved this one. Not sure how I missed it when it came out. Perfect trip. I’m sure you have by now but if not, please get a windsock and a clip on mic for us. The wind drove me crazy. Glad I didn’t have to endure the flies too.

Awsome mate I've watched nearly all of your videos and I new when you had a banana Sanga you new about the food industry. How's that goanna how he had his tail ready to whip. Thanks for all your hard work bringing people closer to the bush, and being so passionate putting emphasis on aboriginal culture and leaving no footprint. Appreciate you mate keep up the great work.

Thanks very much for your kind words, it's very much appreciated. We have a lot to learn from our indigenous brothers here and only wish that more non indigenous Australians appreciated their culture more and that the integration between both much healthier like it is in NZ.. thanks for watching.

Love this sort of thing Gordon. Bit of a new format and an enjoyable one. Really appreciate the talk on your kit such as your mosquito net etc. Look forward to the follow up on your kit too. Also looking forward to hearing your experienced views on safety and survival when road touring around Australia in remote areas. You know, ever since starting a family of my own, ive become a bit of a safety nut, i hear these horrible stories of people dying here in the Blue Mountains just meters from marked trails or getting lost in general, other tragedies have occurred in the desert here ( poor Caroline Grossmuella springs to mind. ) Despite these incidents thrre doesn't seem ( not locally or to my knowledge at least) enough information that promotes awareness of the dangers involved and what to do or how to be prepared for an emergency. I cant wait to see you on one of your courses sometime in the near future and respect your outlook and overall philosophy a great deal, so I'd really like to hear about what you have to say and offer in these areas, in your future content. Thanks

Aren't you afraid of the spiders? I'd have freaked out seeing that one chilling in its web. A grown man screaming like a frightened school child would have been quite a sight to behold.
@BushcraftSurvivalAustralia Жыл бұрын
Spiders are no issue. Spiders that are in a web stay in a web. There are are two dangerous spiders in Oz and you hardly see them. The media exaggerates everything. The more you know the less you have to fear, thanks for watching.

That was great I would love to be able to do these sort of trips, how do you go sleeping in that swag do you get bugs spiders snakes or other creepy crawlies bothering you?
@BushcraftSurvivalAustralia6 жыл бұрын
It was a great trip. I have done it a few times now, usually after I finish up with Norforce (army) each end of year and I head back to NSW. I try to take a different route there and back every time I do it. You can do it in 4 days but that is a lot of driving each day. I prefer to take longer and enjoy it and see different places. It still costs you $900 in fuel each way, no matter how long you take! As for snakes and creepy crawlies, It never really bothers me. I always choose ground that is relatively clear to help minimise this. Having a knowledge of what nasties (if any) are in the area helps you to realise that there are less dangerous things than you think. Fire dispels snakes and they generally want to be no where near humans...especially when you have a fire. If it’s particularly damp and lots of leaf matter and leeches....I use a hammock and tarp to get me off the ground. Thanks for your interest and your support.

G-Day Gordon, Like you I drive a 75 series Troopy all over this great land doing bird photography and just enjoying the outback. I wanted to ask you do you use a GoPro Camera? and if so what program do you use to download it to say make a DVD? Sorry to put this on you Gorden but you make the best Videos on the web and I thought who better to ask. I love all your work and follow all you make. Thanks in advance Keith (IGGIE) Hindley

I again Keith, I’m probably the worlds biggest digital technophobe and there are many more people out there with better technical knowledge regarding cameras and editing. I have always believed that content is much more important than production and I personally would rather watch someone with good skills and knowledge over someone without but who has all the latest gadgets. I have been using a GoPro Silver Hero 4 (which didn’t have the best sound) since I started but just recently bought the new GoPro Hero 8 which has much better quality sound. I don’t do my own editing as I don’t have the time, nor the patience to be honest. I get some one else to do that for me. Maybe one day! I usually download from the GoPro to my iPad. The new GoPro 8 has an app which is much easier. A GoPro needs to be compatible with apple devices. Hope that’s a help.

With the Bush coconut.. when you say "grub" you mean tucker.. or an actual living grub (like witchety grub)?

There is an actual soft edible grub inside. Hard to describe the taste but not bad at all. The casing of the coconut is also edible. Thanks for watching.

Amazing video. I did a year trip around Australia and it makes me miss it so much! One day I hope to be as knowledgeable as you are on edible plants. Also, I think with the Dreamtime stories, access to the first level of the story is for kids, and I assume also for white folk, and the remaining 2 or 3 levels of the story need to be figured out for yourself? That was the Aboriginal education as far as I know and the different levels of the stories are guides for how one should live life and treat others/the land.
