A SMALL HILL WITH A BIG VIEW
Camping on the summit of Side Pike taking in the incredible views over the Langdale Pikes. Pitching the Terra Nova Quasar 40th Anniversary Limited Edition tent (expedition version of the Quasar) for the first time and I was quite impressed by its stature and feel of quality. Definitely a solid tent that is stronger than most out there with it’s geodesic design and tough materials. I just want to test it properly😉😬. "Blue, Right" - & he obeys. 11:10; love the overhead drone footage 23.50; a colorful & beautiful sunset. With 10,000 hydroscopic barrier along with 70D material - definitely a 4-season tent that will handle most anything Mother Nature can throw up against it. I especially like that all pones are inside sleeves. Shelter from the storms. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

Weapons grade tents. Best I’ve ever had. Mine lasted 28 years. Bombproof just doesn’t cut it. If your up high in winter conditions or storms you want to be in one of these! Not the smallest or lightest to carry for 3 season wild camping for me these days though (not getting any younger! 😂).

It was a tent I fancied when it came out, although overkill. Just too expensive for my pocket back then, I think around £500. Approaching 6 months wages then. It's heavy but would love to test it in really bad weather. Just can't justify the price for how often I'd use it, as I'd normally carry a lighter tent. Great video as always and a nice trip down memory lane. .

I work in farm and agricultural law and unfortunately I think within 1 year or so your channel along with many others are going to be deleted by KZbin as I’ve just heard of the first case of a landowner taking KZbin to court for someone making a video showing them camping on their land which in law is illegal. In a first instance KZbin has no choice but to firstly delete the channel showing the activity.

Beautiful tent. Classic design. Can really sometimes appreciate an inner pitch first tent given that you can easily retighten everything and make it tight as a drum. This isn't really possible in tents that can up inner and outer together (Hilleberg). Makes for a much quieter night.

What a spot Al - totally panoramic views over Langdale. I was up there this weekend myself - testing out all my old kit (sleeping bag/pad/trangia/pots etc) and my new Lanshan up at the NT site. Did a lovely walk up the band and over Bow fell & Esk pike and back via the tarn to the ODG where I rehydrated like 10 men!! (dehydration is a killer on a hot day....) Kit has had a full run out, it all fits in my old Lowe Alpine sack and I made the route without anything falling off or giving way :) happy days. All gear tested and ready for the off up into the hills - can't wait (just my luck the weather will turn now!! Haha......)

Looking at that view, I thought that if I were rich, it would be money well spent to have a little house somewhere like that. You had to carry the little "house" with you, but what a place to spend some time. No doubt it's a good, solid tent, but it's really the location that takes one's breath away. Well, that and the price of the tent.

The tabs on the pole crossing's inside inner tent are for paracord or accessory cord to go from one side to another and diagonally down the tent, to help brace it internally in very high winds. The North Face and other makers had the same webbing loops.

I know what you mean and it seems hard to justify of course but £400 in 1980 is equivalent to around £2000 today in terms of purchase power, a pound today will get you about 20% of what it could back then.

Loving the video Al, great to see blue too .I was only up there last week myself bagging the 7 peaks . Struggle which tent to get Al wished you hurry up with your 10/10 tent that’s in ya head 😂 when do you think you’ll get the design outta your head and onto paper and made ? Really need to be purchasing one soon want to mix it up with nights in campervan and nights in tent specially in the lakes and Scotland . Look forward to your next adventure til then stay safe 👊👊

I have the Wild Country version, The Trisar. Fantastic tent but the weight means I ain't carrying it very far. I've been in campsites where the wind has flattened many tents but hardly moved this beauty, I love it!

It’s definitely for two people to carry not one but a solid tent👍

It's a good thing your ancestors exterminated brown and black bears and wolves in the U.K. Now you have to work on the few mountain lions left. It must be nice that they're gone. I'm terrified to sleep in a tent in the U.S.

the Achilles heal with those geodesic tents is rain. you cant cook in them and when you get in and out the inside may get rained on possibly

...and those tent pegs didn't work for me. my tent blew away in strong winds when i was setting it up and i had to run after it, hilarious. u really have to put them in at a steep angle so the rope doesn't unhook, and i think that weakens the hold

Yes although I couldn’t make a tent for that price… it would take me too long😂

I pitched my 1993 Ultra Quasar on Friday night in the garden to escape the heat in the south-facing bedroom. Packing it up today I weighed it: inner, outer, poles, pegs & footprint = 4.2kgs
The TENT wild campers REALLY want.
