There are a couple of different optics rails that should become available soon. I have a Picatinny rail on order, and once that gets here I'll do a video zeroing a red dot (probably one of the new Zero Tech options) on it

Hi mate after waiting 1month for it to arrive from qld i took mine to the range today for the first time - Fired the first 4or5 shots of 36gram bb perfectly , BUT the 4th shot i tried #4 32gram 1350fs and the empty shell got stuck in the chamber, tried again next shot with the 36gram bbs and same thing - seems like the bolt is not closing all the way and not picking up the empty shell leaving it stuck in the chamber - Any tips ? im going to pull it apart and clean it best i can , from there take it to my local shop and then call the qld shop to let them know the issue - Im shattered have been looking forward to getting my hands on it - If it cycles without issues it will be a great buy
@blackstumpballistics53612 жыл бұрын
That does sound odd, like the kind of issue you'd expect with really light shot, not 32-36g loads. You should always strip and clean a new firearm before shooting it, and make sure that everything is moving smoothly first (super easy with the chrome plating on the bolt and internals on this gun), but after doing that the first thing I'd check is the nut that holds the barrel onto the magazine tube - this should always be tight, and it is a good idea to check it regularly when shooting. We had a similar sounding issue with a .300wm Verney Carron Speedline during a shop demo day, and it turns out that this being a bit loose was robbing the rifle of some of the energy required to cycle the action. The next thing to check would be your shooting technique, and this was the main issue I was having with my lighter loads. Put bluntly, my shotgun shooting form sucks and needs work, and this was also actually robbing the gun of some of the energy required to fully cycle the action with some of my lighter target shot. I put 100 rounds through it the day I filmed this - I wasn't going to put my malfunctions and user error in the first video ;) Basically, this model of shotgun requires recoil energy to cycle the action fully, and you need to make sure you are properly braced to transfer this recoil in a way that will allow the shotgun to utilise it. If the muzzle is flipping when you shoot some of this energy is wasted, and the gun might not cycle fully. Shooting off bags or with a light hold on the fore-end might be problematic, especially at first when the gun is being worn in, and standing or kneeling with an aggressive "tactical stance" will probably be your best bet. This is something I need to work on a fair bit myself, as I tend to revert to a more old-fashioned rimfire shooter stance when standing with a gun like this, which was causing some malfunctions with 28g 1250fps #7.5s. Anyway, I will be filming a ton more content with this over the next few weeks (weather providing, hopefully 2-3 more videos worth of footage next week), covering disassembly, maintenance, shooting technique, and load selections that will run the gun reliably (I grabbed a couple of boxes of everything the shop had, from 24g to 42g, so that bit should be fun). I don't know how experienced a shotgun shooter you are, but if you are a bit inexperienced like myself I found this video to be quite helpful in showing what good and bad form looks like kzbin.info/www/bejne/qICagJqZbLdni6s . Either way, I hope you get yours running reliably soon, as these things are a ton of fun to shoot!

@@blackstumpballistics5361 Hi mate thanks very much for the reply - From what i can tell thecatch on the bolt for ejecting the empty shells is not engaging correctly (there seems to be a bur on the lip of the chamber/barrel - Can i ask you a favour when you have yours disasseblemed and just have the barrel in your hands try and drop an empty shell into the chamber/barrel - For mine i have to push on the shell a bit to get it to chamber correctly and then it is very tightly stuck , to the point where i have to use a cleaning rod through the bottom of the barrel to push the empty shell out - is yours the same ?? or do your empty shells just drop into the chamber with ease ? Thanks again

sorry to flood your comments - yeah when i drop an empty shell into my pardus straight pull it almost falls into the chamber by its self but with the bushmeister i have really push the shell into chamber , its tight , it looks like the shell catch on the bolt is putting a slight dint/bur into the rim of the chamber because its not jumping over the lip of the chamber instead its just smacking into it - so i reckon problem found now how to fix it - id be shattered to have to send it back to qld it wouldnt be back in vic for a month or more - im a bit dirty this has happen for a new firearm and $1200 but what can you do .. @@Adamsadowy Hi mate, sorry to keep you waiting - I haven't had much of a chance to have a good look at mine until this past week. The chamber in my barrel lets me drop shells in smoothly and they fall out readily when tipped up. It sounds like your shotgun might need some attention from a gunsmith or a warranty service, but maybe your local dealer has a quick fix? Have you got it working yet?

Australian Sporting Agencies, the distributor, are generally pretty good with their warranty servicing, you should definitely take it back to your dealer and let them handle it for you. $2600 cheaper than the verney carron ,you have me sold!
@blackstumpballistics53612 жыл бұрын
The Verney Carron still has its place - the gas assisted mechanism probably works more reliably than the Bushmeister with lower-powered shells, there's more support available for servicing, and some of the walnut used in the Veloce's stocks I've seen this last 12 months has been incredibly nice. There's a lot of good reasons as to why they sell faster than ASA can produce them. That all being said, the price of these new Bushmeisters is pretty hard to argue with, and I was very impressed with the build quality and operation of mine. And, considering the price, the gunsmiths at Beatons are currently playing with one to assess its viability for custom builds.

A gun that jams every shot.
@blackstumpballistics53612 жыл бұрын
If your example is jamming with every shot, I would imagine that you are using the wrong ammunition and should check to see if the magazine nut is screwed in tightly. The manual states that a run-in period of at least 100 heavy hunting rounds is required after purchasing, and also suggests frequently checking that magazine nut (mine came loose after about 70 rounds). Due to the blow-back nature of the action, stock Bushmeister shotguns aren't always going to work well with lighter target loads, as NIOATV covered in their introductory video. My example works about 80% of the time when shooting 28g 1250fps trap loads and will likely jam with every shot when shooting 24g 1200fps Eley Ambers, but worked flawlessly with 32g 1350fps BBs. If you bought yours for shooting clays, you might want to try some higher velocity shot in the 1300-1400fps range, which will give the bolt enough energy to overcome the recoil spring and cycle the action.

@blackstumpballistics53612 жыл бұрын
@@mattwithers77 don't we all like a bit of reach-around? ;) I'm not 100% sure, but I think a leftie with bigger hands probably could develop their own techniques for shooting this without modifications being made to the gun, just like some right-handed shooters have been shooting their CZ 515s with the lever on the "left" side. Beatons actually completed some modifications to a CZ 515 last week to extend the lever so that a right-handed shooter could shoot with the lever on the left side without having to shift their grip, making it really remarkably fast to shoot. Beatons are also working on making modifications that would allow the lever to be moved to the other side of the receiver too, so this might actually be a very accessible modification for left-handed shooters very soon!
