I’m currently renovating (rebuilding) an old cabin too and I’ve decided to just use this one channel as my go to for know how and practical solutions for the projects I have planned. KZbin can do your head in with the amount of ‘how to’ choice available. I love Dave’s humour and no nonsense approach….he’s my kind of fella. That aluminum is used in roll up doors /gates, previous owner probably has free access to it because it’s expensive. That’s a great project, I’ve done a few just like that in less desirable places. I’d do this one just to be in the woods all day.

There is a place across the creek from me with just 2 acres, that I almost bought. It was bought by a couple from out of the area and they are doing the same thing you are. They use this house as a base for riding atvs, they gutted the inside and are now replacing the seals, it's closed up with heat and they now stay there while they work. Great video Dave, can't wait for the series of fixing this up.

That's how I get rid of all my old trailers while I restore them. Slowly it all goes through the burn barrel. Next year I'll have a wood stove in the living room and then my old trailer wood will supply that. I've remodeled older and more screwed up houses David. This will be fun. Time consuming but fun.

Not telling you what to do, because I am by far much dumber than the average person, but you might want to look into the lights that the Amish use in their homes. Apparently they churn out some warmth and it could offer you some warmth and light and flexibility on moving that light/heat to different areas of the house in case you need to block off the main heat space. Thank you and your family for sharing your journeys.
