Small error on the Martin section - guitar backs aren't made from spruce, just the top. Typically the back is made from the same wood as the sides.

They sure do use A LOT of ebony wood. Wayyyy more than guitar builders. We use slabs 1/4"(6.5mm) thick. We could get like 12 or 16 fretboards from an oboe blank.

Huge generalization. They churn out so many guitars that there have to be lemons by definition. "the best of the best" is the guitar of yours YOU like best. Let's leave it at that. I have two guitars I like better than my Martin, which I also love in its own way.

I've alsways wanted a bell, and finally found a nice quality one that has a nice ring to it, my guess, from its name, is that it's Swedish, but would love a bit bigger bell, not too heavy to carry, that has a deeper ring and would love to have one that also have the aesthetics of the ones made by Marinelli.

I hear either harp or hammer dulcimer, possibly both, I hear something like what we called “bells”, a type of compact xylophone that uses metal bars, struck by a single hard nylon beater, sounds like a triangle, but covers maybe 2 full octaves, a solo flute, and maybe way down in the mix, a standard string ensemble of violin, viola, cello, and maybe a double bass … Is that what you’re asking about?

Fun fact. There have been several blind music tests done where they had the same high professional artists play the same song for a group of other musicians and critics. They played a starter model, mid model, and a legendary "unmistakable" instrument. In all 5 cases i know about the legendary were rated lowest.
@JohannesLabuschАй бұрын
Sounds fishy. I wouldn't be surprised if they were tied in some cases, but that still wouldn't be an argument against the high end instruments, because the player's feel while playing is not something you can hear necessarily, but contributes to the performance in a psychological way. I play better on my expensive guitar, not because it sounds that much better, but because I feel so much safer and more supported while playing.

@@JohannesLabusch or it proves that "the unmistakable sound of XYZ brand" is a sales gimmick to separate rich people from their money.
@JohannesLabuschАй бұрын
@@Jonathan-hx6oy I'd agree that a brand can't have an "unmistakable sound", but a guitar model sure can. And then any player with a bit of experience could hear the difference between a 150$ version and a 3000$ version of that same model. It's not rocket science.

Can't they use other kinds of wood, instead of black wood, for making the oboe? Or would the sound not be correct.
@MTGWithMikeАй бұрын
Only a few companies use African black wood. Oboes are often made from grenadilla wood, a dense black wood that's also used to make clarinets. Grenadilla wood is known for its heft and the ability of its sound to project far, making it well suited for large concert halls
