You guys make me feel so much better. With the PW sales and local garden center sales I went crazy buying -I feel exactly as Rick said “ plant in one hand shovel on the other” 😅 I don’t know where to put them, how to style it, I just knew I needed these plants for my garden, crazy right . Bottom line is yes I am excited and happy and chaotic with no regrets 😂 if I don’t make up my mind soon before real frost hits I will just dig literally 16 holes, 3feet apart, plant them, mulch and worry about it next year when spring is back new beginnings. And I NEED DIAMOND BALL!!

I love your channel! You just described me to a “T” when you said “ a plant in one hand and a shovel in the other”, trying to figure out where to put it. I have 8 rose bushes that need to come out of their containers into the landscape due to the roots filling up the container. I also use Bio-Tone Starter when transplanting.😊

I brought a Therese Bugnet rose to our new property. It never prospered, just sat there for a decade. I moved it few years ago and it Took Off Big Time! Little shop of horrors growth 😂. Then last fall I seen I missed a couple stems and replanted those and I can’t believe it but they are already 4’ and bushy! Such a beautiful fall color to boot. There was an existing Viburnam that was too close to house, we moved it and I couldn’t water it and it despised where it was and was half the size it was. We tackled moving it back closer so I can water it and hopefully next spring we see big growth. I wish I knew variety, but it gets nice flowers in spring and gorgeous fall color. So location is very important to plants indeed. We have sandy soil Z5, WI and need to fence everything from wildlife. Love that-Money does grow on trees 🎉

What a success story, that's fantastic! The location makes all the difference and kudos to you for being willing to move them 🤗

This me today haha. Digging holes in the ground in a general area where I'm planning a new flower bed next year and just plopping plants in the ground before the ground freezes. Will dig up all the sod/finalize plant placement next year lol.

I definitely identified with moving and leaving your garden. Idrove past my ojd house at least twice a week for 3 years. They cut down my climbing hydrangea that had Ben grwongfor 10 years ! Then one day I was over my former next door neighbor and walked through my former backyard With a new and more experienced eye, I decided to that my new garden at my new house was much better. No more garden regrets.

Timely subject! I was planning to “bust a move” and transplant a PW El Niño Chitalpa that I had planted in a pot. I love the plant and hopefully it will appreciate an area to spread its roots. Thank you for annnother great show!!!

Rick's Lim-a-Rick skills are on point ❤👊🏾 Loved today's show and the beautiful Diamond Ball Clematis - this is my first time seeing it! My big moving project this fall is to plant a bloomerang dark purple lilac on standard (which has been in a huge pot for 19 months in my backyard) to an ideal spot by my patio, so we can enjoy the fragrance in April/May. 💜🌳 It's a 2-man job, but I'm optimistic that I've chosen an ideal location.

Yes! I love that you're moving it next to your patio to enjoy the fragrance 🤩 I have a lilac right next to my back deck and when the spring blooms come to life the fragrance takes over the entire deck and gets me so excited for the warmer weather to come 🤗❤

We’re in zone 5b Chicago area and so far we’ve moved one Little Quick Fire and two Bobo hydrangeas which have overgrown their spots but can’t decide if we should move our Heritage rose now or wait for spring. It’s at least 5ft tall and lush but stretching for sunlight. Tough to decide because it’s only hardy to Zone 5 and our winters can be so brutal.

To be safe, if it's established in the ground and comfortable enough for now I'd hold off until spring 🙂

This is the year of moving plants for me. Deer are making it necessary! As are odd lighting angles that makes some full sun plants lean and fall over. I’m also removing things that seemed to attract pests this year, adding more of what I loved, and I had to hit the 75% off sales, of course! Do you know of any reasonable sized (smaller end) flowering vines that are deer resistant and can be grown in a (very large) pot? Annual or perennial is fine. I’ve had blister beetle issues with my clematis this year and might look into replacing them 😢
@pwcolorchoice3 ай бұрын
You just can't beat some of those sales! 🤩 As for a vine, maybe something like Mandevilla could be good? It's a tropical so it would be an annual but they're beautiful and considered deer resistant

I’m working on reclaiming some of our semi wooded areas from invasives, and I bought three bottlebrush buckeye starts to plant there. I’m also planning on planting poke milkweed, viburnums that I propagated, bottlebrush grass from seed I collected and other things that can tolerate part shade and dryish soil. The stiltgrass is giving me headaches!

That sounds like quite the project but one for a very good cause!

I’ve actually just recently ordered a couple rhododendron‘s to plant this fall. They’re both in the Proven winner line. Do you guys have any helpful advice. I plan on amending my slightly acidic soil to be just a little bit more so. They will be planted on a slight slope in clay.
@pwcolorchoice3 ай бұрын
Moist, well-drained soil is really important for rhododendrons - it's great that you have acidic soil as they really need acidic soil to perform well. Full to part sun will work well, for warmer climates some shade is preferred. Spring is the ideal time to plant rhododendrons in colder climates but early fall can work as well 🙂

I bought 2 Diamond Ball clematis 2 years ago and I'm not impressed so far. And they were very expensive. Ok. I will be patient with them. I have one growing in my Oscar Peterson rose and, yes, the flowers are gorgeous, if very few. I love planting clematis with shrubs such as hibiscus syriana.
@pwcolorchoice3 ай бұрын
Mixing in clematis with other shrubs is a great way to add more interest and color! Clematis can be a bit slower to get established so that could certainly be a factor with yours.
