Thanks bro. Had same issue yesterday. Dealer couldn't touch til Monday. Got the sensor and connector and fixed myself. It surely fixed it since the mil light went out as soon as I started truck back up. I had just gotten my truck back from dealer after being down for 10 days. Luckily I was at home for that. Keep doing what your doing cause it and thanks again.

I have a freightliner 2008 and this is what is givin me. 3563: SPN: 3563 - Engine Intake Manifold #1 Absolute Pressure FMI: 4 - Voltage Below Normal Count: 20 The trucks is not accelerating!! Im not sure what to do anymore.

Well you are in luck, The t/s for this code is not that difficult if your familiar with wiring.The intake man press sensor would need to be checked for accurancey or corrosion.Than the baro in ecm would need to be checked. After that the wiring for each leg form the mcm to the intake sensor will need to be checked. One of those three will lead you to your answer .MCM,wiring,or sensor.Hope you find your issue.

Hey bro, thanks for your videos. I have 2014 Cascadia and has spn102 fmi 18. Check engine light is on. This code only come back on when driving at highway speed for more than 10 15 mins when we clear the fault codes and drive in the city then no problem atall. When back on the highway with full speed again then pops up again. Please advise. Air intake system detected 25% derate.

Your cel coming on only on the highway would makes sense because thats the verification for this code. 5 min at highway speed greater than 1130rpm. the t/s for this code is make sure the mcm software is up to date. Check for plugged air filter. Check using boost or reguated air pressure fo ray intake leaks. If nothing yet, than check for any exh leaks.If nothing, than check your wastate actuator to see if enough air is coming out. If not than your wastegate is the issue.If its good than your turbo is the issue.Hopefuly your very familair with a computer because there ute a few tests with this code. And dont forget these vids can make great presents for last min shoppers..

Not a problem, always here to help or Atleast guide. With that code turbo is the most caused result. But you Gta remember the basics. Loss of boost. Such as leaking cac, or hoses or clamps. A sensor drifting or just reading incorrectly. Possible turbo wastegate actuator not delivering proper pressure. Or just plain exhaust leaks. One of these will definitely be your problem.

Great question you should be able to most of time it’ll just put you in a Derate but you should still be able to drive. in rear cases it’ll throw stop engine light

Thanks for watching and reaching out. The intake manifold pressure sensor is located on the charge air cooler piping also known as your cold boost piping. So follow the pipe coming off your charge air cooler And it will have a three wire sensor attached. In case you meant intake manifold temperature sensor that one will be located on your intake manifold right around your number two injector feed line. Hope that helps

Good morning! I’m having two issues. I have a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia and it’s throwing these two codes: Emissions system problem detected Service engine soon Diagnostic Code: SPN 3216 FMI 21 And Air Intake System Problem detected 25% Derate Diagnostic Code: SPN 1636 FMI 3 Your help would be GREATLY appreciated as it JUST started throwing both these codes. I had to cancel a NICE paying load I had to pickup to fix this problem. Please help. Any and all advice and feedback will be greatly valued and appreciated. 🙏🏾

Thanks for reaching out. Your issues may be related. The truck is having issues regening and it may be related to a failed intake sensor, boost leak, or turbo not keeping up. Realistically you would need a computer to run some test showing us which way to go. I would start by checking for any boost leaks and checking out that intake temp sensor as it’s a very common issue.

That would be an intake codes. Can be really tricky such as a sensor reading incorrectly, boost leaks, exh leaks,turbo problems. Would take a while to go through the system and diag. Wish I had a quick answer for you

This could mean a number of things. There may be an issue with your turbo but realistically we would need a diag computer hooked up to test the system. There are to many possibilities when it comes to this code.

Great question, The plug comes complete. You just Gta put that backing plate on that covers the wires. A few variations come in the kit depending on which one you need. So options was nice to have.

With a 2020 cascadia more than likely your ambient air temp sensor will be in your driver side mirror. Behind that smaller glass.

I've changed the sensor as you've displayed in this video on my 2016 dd15 cascadia that shows Engine 2 spn 102 fmi 18 as a code, it did clear the code for a few min. then it came back, I checked the new sensor and that has soot back on it, any suggestions as to what to replace next, have you ran into this problem?

Along with this code there is some other t/s that needs to be followed.I was just giving the most common issues seen on these units.The sensor and the connector.Have you checked the connector pins for any contamination/corrosion and for pins being spread open at all. Again these are 90% of the problems.

@@alexkalinin9188 it seems like you may have deeper issues than just an intake sensor. Many test would need to be ran on your intake system such as turbo or boost issues

I like that name, very unique. That issue could very well be a sensor problem but t/s would have you check software , temp readings on the sensors , any blockage on the front end that would obstruct flow, than checking turbo and wastegate. Unfortunately with this code the turbo not being able to keep up is a very common issue. But I do have a video on that replacement which might help if you go down that route. Good luck on the repair.

This code is set by a boost issue. So I would start with cheapest options. Pressure test cac and see if it passes. Usually it’s cracked and most people won’t know. Than clamps/hoses. Ensure your turbo wastegate actuator is pushing air out. And lastly turbo. The most common issue is the turbo failing.

@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 thanks for your reply, did pressure test all was good since it's deleted we blocked the engine exhaust circulation pipe and it blew black crap out for 15 miles, code went away after a few hrs. My mechanic checked turbo boost and did a cylinder cut out test. He thinks the soot had built up in the exhaust system, I'll know after this weekend I'm gonna pull the block off and see if the 102 code comes back

I swapped this sensor, still had code. Then i thought to check power to it qnd sure enough no power going to it! Then my delta p sensor and map sensor have very weak power signal (light on power tester shows weak) is this an issue with my wiring harness or are those other 2 sensors suppose to have low power to them?

They work on a 5v reference supply voltage. But really a computer would be your best friend here. Than you can see what it’s reading and if it really needs to be replaced

Thanks for reaching out. A diag computer would be your best friend here. But the charge air system will need to be checked for leaks. Than checking your intake sensor for any biased readings. Than off to your turbo to find out if it’s working correctly. Majority of the time I find the turbo being the cause.

I have this same code after I let me truck sit for a day or 2 I crank it up the code pops up and white and black smoke comes out of the tailpipe and the engine shakes and hesitate...but I drive it off and the code disappears and smoke clears after I pull off then it back to normal..it only happened when my truck sits before start up any suggestions what it could be??? Thanks it's so weird I'm confused

Hey guys I have Cascadia 2017 with 815k miles there’s code came on SPN 5357 FMI 18 and after diagnostic we changed intake manifold sensor and EGR delta p sensor and reset the code, but after couple miles the code came on again. Please advise if you can

This code is for fuel quantity low has been detected. I will tell you that a diag computer will be needed to t/s this. It will have you inspect the intake for leaks, cac for leaks, egr for leaks, and exhaust for leaks. All will need to be put under pressure. Than would need to monitor voltages for delta p , baros, and intakes. A lot of times a boost leak or egr internal leaks will cause this code and causes plugging in the sensors. Hope that helps some

It will cause a cel and a derate but I don’t believe it’s the 5 mph derate. So you should be ok temporarily.

Great question, yes that code will be for the same sensor. Check for usual corrosion and or damage. If none unplug sensor and and see if it changes to fmi 3. If so replace that shorted sensor.

Now I got a code 1636 FMI 2 lol while driving the check engine light goes on and off replaces the air intake temp sensor didn’t change pigtail

It very well could be an issue with the pigtail, possibly corrosion present or spread pins. That would be the easiest place to start your inspection. So I would start there. Careful. That one could derate you.

I unplugged the sensor and the FMI 3 code came up the FMI 2 didn’t go away it’s weird it goes away and comes back while driving

@@Wolfci I meant to check the eng harness side connector for issues. You will have one of two issues either a cac outlet temp sensor issue or intake manifold temp sensor issue. If youve already repalcd the intake manifold sensor and there are no issues with harness than next stop is cac sensor.Hope this info helps you with getting this bug fixed.

That is a great question. With that code there is a short to power with either the mcm motor control module or acm aftertreatment control module. You would have to check powers and grounds to both the modules to rule out the wiring being a problem then lean towards the module’s.

Good question , easy answer. Because as you see in the video I use a three piece butt splice conn method. In order to use that which is the best way , you will need some length to move the heat shrink back for the original solder and melt. If you take another look you’ll be able to tell what I mean. Thanks for reaching out. This code is relating to a cooling system issue. Either sensor problem, thermostat issue, or water pump not keeping up. A computer would be able to help you diag the temp readings and prob lead you right to the issue. Hope that helps.

Just came to truck to start it and I noticed for a few weeks now that if it sits and I start it , it runs rough and just shuts off on me ,I can start it with pumping the fuel pump and then it runs normal ,any idea what it could be I changed the water in fuel filter

Great question man. Sounds like you are on the right track already. Hard starts due to fuel related issues are very difficult to diagnose and very time consuming due to needing the truck to sit to verify. First things first, need to find out if it’s chassis side or engine side. Next time you park and let it sit for a while. Look at the level in your davco filter bowl. When u come back if it’s lower than u left it than most likely cause is that bowl to the tanks issue. If the level is the same than it’s the fuel filter module to the fuel injectors issue. But once you find out the answer there the next step gets difficult with gauges or a diagnostic computer.

If you have to pump the fuel plunger to get the truck to start you and I both know the issue is fuel related. Is there another issue causing your cel, yes and you should fix that to. But that’s not your main issue.

Unfortunately that does happen and the manifold needs to come off of you can’t fish it out. They make tiny grab claws for times like this. And when ur headlight bulb falls through. Same claw works good to grab them.

That will infact cause a derate and a stop Eng light. Without a proper intake temp the engine cannot run right. Great question though.

@@davids3487 great question. You could sure try. But when the sensor starts drifting or corrosion is taking place, it’s traveling to far to clean and will need to be replaced.

@@davids3487 you would need a diag computer hooked up to see what your barometric presss is reading. If it’s off, you will need an Eng ecm replaced as they are built into them.

@@ronaldglover72 if you only had this code once and it went away I wouldn’t worry about it. If it continues to occur than I’d suspect the hvac temp sensor or the hvac harness. One of your hvac sensors might be drifting which occurs over time.

You are correct sir, that would a great indicator. Usually that is caused by a bad sensor , connector, or boost leaks.

Thanks for reaching out. It should definitely cycle when ign is switched on for a self test. The connector may have an issue like spread pins or contamination. Or just a throttle valve starting to fail. But they should throw a code for failing to move. Hope that helps.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 mine don't cycle either, I got this truck deleted I asked and they said they deleted the throttle valve, which I never heard of, I got a new one from freightliner and it does not cycle either, trucks drive and runs fine, but I find it weird

@@vaughn8404 if your aftertreatment is deleted than there would be no reason for this valve or any EGR components so maybe that’s why. If ur system was not deleted than this valve will help raise temps and is very important.

(Good work by the way) Alright so a flimsy engineered wire and sensor corrosion. These trucks are supposed to be bullet proof heavy duty and yet look at that how weak, flimsy and small of a problem like that was engineered to mess the whole operation of that truck.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 Just curious, my truck had the same problem if i am correct. my truck would vibrate when applying gas roughly around 25mph-35mph. previously i took it to a dealer and they thought it was driveline issue so they replaced u-joints, yoke, and engine and transmission mounts, and they balanced the driveshaft. but that didn't solve the issue. so i took it to another dealer where i told them it was more of a misfire than an out of balance issue because it would occur only when applying gas and at certain speeds. so the tech did the following: Sun-07-2021 11:20:50 AM 5795 - Drove unit in shop and check for complaint. Secure wheels. Connect laptop. Unit has codes for the intake manifold temperature signal spike and signal not plausible 1636/10 and 1636/14. Check for the T/S. Connect Laptop, turn the ignition ON ignition OFF). Check for code 1636/FMI 3 present, Found no code present. Disconnect the intake manifold temperature sensor and inspect the sensor harness for bent, spread, or corroded pins. Found the terminals show corrosion. Took pictures. Inspect the connector and check for damage on the connector. No damage on the connector. Use terminal pig tails to replace the damaged terminals. Use shrink splicers and install all components. reinstall all components. Drove unit out and get unit up to temperature. Verification is to idle unit for 1 minute. I have not tested the unit yet, but I am eager to find out if the vibration problem is solved. any thoughts?

@@superfly4137 thanks for following the videos man. In all honesty the techs were in the right place long for issues that would cause vibrations. Suspension and drive line issues are definitely going to cause that. Also out of balence tires cause that issue and mostly at certain speeds only. That would be a good place to check out. I guess I’d really have to know of it was truck side or an eng side vibration. Could be a engine surging issue or over sped cam shaft that is causing a miss, weak injectors.,plugged after treatment. Depending on what the sound is there’s many possibilities. Hope that helps a little bit And thanks again for watching.

760 to replace the sensor and pigtail. Man do they get there’s. Shop rates these days are that crazy. But when your shut down any price is good to get you moving again.

Thanks for reaching out This problem usually arises when the charger cooler temperature is higher than expected. Most likely cause is a charge air cooler sensor or the intake manifold temp sensor. But I have seen engine sensor harness issues related to this as well. A computer would be a great help with diagnosing this fault.

I’m trying to figure something what’s going on with my Dd15 if anyone can help figure it out It would rev high while driving eventually not allowing my to open up my fuel caps The Mecanic changed out the fuel injectors and truck drove great till I picked up a load It started revving high again It wanted to shut off Brought it back to the mechanic but he doesn’t have any answers Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

Great question man. I believe you have two separate issues as they will not have the same symptoms. Your fuel tank caps being tight and not releasing is due to a pressure relief problem most likely cause is your fuel tank breather vents. As for rev high, if it does this only while driving than it’s an issue inside your trans , most likely a shift rail bushing update.

Thanks for reaching out and watching. Can’t do it without you guys. The engine needs certain things like air temp to control fueling and combustion for a clean burn. When those things are reading off the engine will over or under compensate fuel to cylinders causing low power issues , running rough, or hesitations. Hope that helps explain it a little better

Very carefully. I would try needle nose pliers and a pick. The older versions would break and strip out the intake manifold. But this newer style really never breaks. Just a run of bad luck.

Hi, I changed my sensor but it is dry and came out with a lot of black soot. I put the old pigtail back, I didn't change it. Do I have to change the pigtail? Do I also have to do a regen? Thank you, good luck with work

@@baatarsandag5989 you would only have to change the pigtail of the pins were spread open even slightly or there were signs of corrosion. And replace the sensor if also it was corroded or causing that specific code.

I would say you can go as far as it takes your Eng to get mad , derate you, than shut down after a while of not listening. These trucks hold grudges. Sometimes it’ll go off and on and you’ll be able to keep going. Other times it throws a stop Eng light right away.

@@moosc than you Gta use your csi skills and find out what it is. Pull the pipe off and see if coolant is passing through. Could just be condensation from the engine. Could be oil from the turbo. What do you see.

So funny thing about this code. I just did this on a 15 cascadia and debated making a video on it. This would have you check the intake system for leaks, check sensors to make sure nothing is reading inaccurate, than checking the turbo wastegate and make sure it’s working fine. If you haven’t gotten a failure in one of those than your turbo is your blame. That was also my end result in one I recently finished.

I believe I have a vid on this one. There’s quite a bit of t/s involved with this code. Would need to test the intake system for leaks. Than check exhaust system for leaks. Than test all turbo functions and wastegate actuator functions. One of those will be your issue.
