They way i do it, remove air filter, raise up the cab, with top bolts removed on cab shocks and leveling valve rod removed, secure cab with 4by4's and crawl from the top of fuel tank..

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 absolutely! I try to stick with my hood trucks as I do a lot of work for farmers and cattle haulers. These aero fleet trucks are a learning experience to access these service items. Pulling the fender, skirt, and exhaust is the only way to go. Had one clamp break at the muffler, swapped out the T-bolt and got the whole job done in about 3 hrs.

Mine is a little different I have a Cummins engine and it has sone extra fitting on the side I think it’s the one that goes to the actual dpf box. Mine broke once my friend was doing the clutch once he dropped the transmission he saw them leaking and as usual once he touch them it broke 🤦‍♂️

Sadly they always break. Cheap plastic and many miles on these trucks will tear up all these cheaply made items. And luckily you have a buddy that helps out with mech work. That’ll Deff save you money in the long run. Well as long as he’s good.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228 I just went and bought them at the dealership which is the only place that have them and they are $450 and $160 plus sone fittings for the other hoses that run to the dpf box. It’s ridiculous someone need to make those fitting with better material to last at least 10 years or make it easy to replace.

@@bustedknucklebydieseldr3228. It took me 4 hours but that’s because I didn’t take off the bellow pipe. I didn’t want to disturb the gaskets and turbo. The hardest part was removing/installing all of the hold down clamps. 😂 Keep up the videos 👍

I’ve got a coolant leak onto the ground and I believe in the def tank. The trucks been deleted. Can I just remove those two hoses and cap the exit and return lines on the def header and where they come off the motor. Are they necessary for the coolant system or feeding/cooling another part? Removing will clean things up and eliminate them failing in the future. 2013 DD13. Thank you

@@JDGASAWAY I haven’t capped them. I never got a clear answer on if I could, without starving something else of coolant. As it warmed up, the leak has almost stopped. I’m going to by a hose and just jump it right where it comes off the back of the egr and dumps back in, just to eliminate all those lines and still be safe.

Thank you for the great video! These gave me hard time because i had 6 extra holders bolted around the xy shifter and i had to pull the carpet out and go through the little hatch in the cab floor. Also both hoses broke inside the brass fittings that are on the engine side. Whats a good way to extract the broken pieces without hurting the brass fittings? They are really stuck. I saw one of yours broke during the video. What did you do with them? Thank you.

Going through the shifter housing is fine but in the video I showed going through the passenger side of the truck which makes it much easier. There’s not too much involved in just taken off the exhaust pipe and going through there and then you get so much room. When the pieces break off inside the brass I get a pick or a screwdriver and I just scrape them out you won’t really hurt the brass and the plastic just breaks apart since it’s so fragile and old. Tends to happen every single time.

I use torch heat the brass fittings, then use 1-1/4 socket remove both fitting. There are no thread inside. Then you can use knife screwdriver, it is easy and safe to remove the damaged plastics. If DEF no active, you can use 3/4 mip plugs to fix the holes. Attention the hole on the engine is a little bigger, please use some Teflon tape. If still use Def, you can use a 1/2 copper tube and mip adapter fitting, soldering them to the original fittings. You can still use the old hard hoses, connect them to the brass fitting.

If those lines blow and leak id say your outta luck. I've seen people try to put hoses on them and when they clamp them down they brake again. There to fragile with age. Best thing to do is hit that shutdown override switch if you have one and pull over asap. And if you have a wrecker buddy,extra points.

I would suggest calling your local dealer as the part numbers are not the same for all models. And I’d hate to tell you to get the incorrect ones.

You can try anything but nothing will hold that pressure well. They shouldn’t be on backorder. I’m still doing them frequently and there readily available.

DD15- 2016 quick connect fitting line broke and coolant coming off both of hose from the block engine and the line that goes to DEF but my DEF is delete and also my EGR.. I find a way to block these two hose with stuff but not steady slowing leaking drop is that an issue? Can I run far with it like 700 miles I’m try to take it home?? Please need help

Thanks for reaching out. Your best bet is taking the fittings off at the top p/s of your engine and machine the thread pattern up with caps. When people delete there systems this is best to block off or this same problem will always happen. Cheap plastic lines.

My mechanic did not mention these when radiator and compressor lines were replaced. And those stupid connectors just burst on me as soon as i croseed scale leaving me on the side of freeway... How is connectors on the other side of these lines, do they survive? Or other lines that continue on/attach to DEF header unit need to be replaced as well?

As long as your careful with the clips they should last fine. The long ones one the engine are exposed to a lot of heat on the exhaust side so they will naturally get brittle. Very common weak point.

Thanks for watching. If your lines are broken and you don’t want to replace them you should be able to put a plug in them. I know the system will run self tests using the def heater which are the hard blue lines. The system will also self test the coolant pump on the def tank. If there is an error on either one you’ll get a check Eng light. I’m an not positive that it will work 100% due to the coolant pump needing to see coolant go past. I see where the idea is coming from but can’t guarantee it will work. Very interesting and first I’ve heard of it. If you do go that route keep me informed

On the driver side the wheel well fender stays on and the actual steps fender comes off. It helps access to tie everything down.

Both have the cheap plastic ends on it which would require pushing the white tab in which expands the blacking locking tabs outward. Once that happens you can pull it off. Was that what you mean or something else.

Best thing to do is find a fitting with that same pipe thread and cap them off at the coolant collector ports. You can buy the fittings from a dealer and than just match up the threads to make it easier. But either way coolant will need to be drained.

Great question man. The lines are different sizes so they can’t be swapped to different locations. But… from the def doser to the pump. From def doser to the def tank header. From def header to def pump. Than two coolant lines to the def header from coolant collector on top of engine. Hope that helps.

But if it helps the lines are formed and once routed in place behind the frame rail from pump to def header you will be able to see where each end goes. Just because it’s formed a special way and fits better in one port than the other.

On the route back from frontbof truck . The are head in place can you tell where the top line goes and then the one from heater unit at the red round plug left side goes and then the right side of heater/lvl unit hose goes ?
