Great insight and commentary on top of the impressive staff presser. I really feel a serious, winning football era is upon us. This feels so akin to the transition from Bill Lewis to George O'Leary, down to the emphasis on no frills fundamentals. George being George had this great marketing ploy: "Back to Basics"! So much for the 404 lol, let's block and tackle well!

Quick take...here's the deal.... Faulkner and Wienkie are high level coaches. Good that Wienkie has been in the program for a year. I expect he can help Faulkner with personnel evaluation. We have 3 QBs...each with different skill sets...who have proven game experience (as you allude, Wreck Talk). Not a lot, mind you, but, all of them have seen the field as a starter. Gibson is a serviceable backup. Pryon and King have high ceilings. Still on the rise. Wienkie is going to bring that out of them. Faulkner has the proven record of working with Bennett to great success over at uga. I expect our OLine to take the next step under Geep Wade...who is also a high level coach with track record of success. If you are solid at the QB position, and your OLine play is consistent, then you can take the offense in a lot of different directions. Here's my expectation: I'd like to see this offense average 28-30pts per game. That is not "off the charts" in this era....BUT...given that I expect our defense to hold opponents at or less than 21 points per game... we can win a bunch of games. Winning the way we did up at Carowhina .... 21-17...with defense holding it down and offense playing a clean game and controlling it in the 2nd half... that's the way we can do it. That's the way I expect us to do it. My hunch is that Brent Key wants to see his offense be able to run the football at will. If you can run the ball at will, you can absolutely dominate an opponent. If you can run the ball, on your terms, when and where you want, the passing game gets way easier. You can get guys in space one on one and beat defenses over the top when they have to "cheat" to stop the run. That is what I think Key wants Buster to do. I think he can and I think he will. Let's watch and see. Also, with Wienkie as the "QB whisperer", I expect the mental aspect of QB play to be very, very high level. Good decisions. Minimal to know mental mistakes. This also adds to being able to steamroll opponents. Mind you, we are not going to steamroll extremely talented teams, but we can win those games....those slugfests...with all parts working in unison. Go Jackets!

Great points and again, alluding to OLeary era, look at what we were able to get out of a "serviceable" George Godsey. I recall there was "the sky is falling" mentality when lil Joe graduated but coach Fridge quelled those doubts rather quickly. I'm not saying it's the same scenario but I am saying this coaching staff instills the same confidence to get high production no matter the skill set

I would hold my opinion... Nothing changes until the level of talent changes... Coaching and Talent go hand in hand...

I'll be surprised if Coach Weinkie stays with Tech after this year, because GT football is usually a stepping stone for greener pastures -- hope this changes.

I wish Buster the best. He rode Kirby's clout to get his OC job at GT and it's a shame Kirby is going to have to take him behind the woodshed now.
