Fantastic scene. One of the best chase scenes in cinema history....but Keaton reportedly hated it for the unfair reviews it got. Personally, I loved this film. The man was a genius. MGM ruined him.

Buster Keaton had to be some kind of athlete to do what he did here - not to mention in terrific physical condition.

I remember the boulder scene from when I was a young child. Have loved Buster Keaton from the moment I saw this scene way back in the 60s.

You know, Keaton didn't actually want to make this film but couldn't refuse. The scene with the rocks was one of the only things he added himself. Originally it was suppose to fade out right after he hits the first stones. But Keaton, after completing the film and reviewing it, said it was missing something and added the scene with the rolling rocks...

....1:33....Whoaaaa, that man was an athlete. I have so many of his films on dvd and I'm always having to muck around with them trying to figure out how he could possibly do some of the stunts that he performed. Amazing. I guess it comes from his childhood on the Vaudeville stage with his mom and dad.

Styrofoam hadn't arrived until 1944. Whatever those boulders were, cork, paper mache had to pack a dangerous wallop. There was probably a studio backdrop warehouse full of these awaiting the next cowboy movie. But only! Buster Keaton concocted this absurd scenario

@hummingfrog
@hummingfrog 4 жыл бұрын
@@mwasevamwandilawa2719 No, obviously not, but he (if that's really him) is really running and tumbling downhill and making some real leaps. No movie studio today would allow Tom Cruise to do that, even if he wanted to. (I'm pretty sure though that they cut and used a dummy for when the tree was actually toppling over. That's not a stunt -- you're going to hit the ground just as hard as if you had missed the tree completely).
