Pretty much, her older sister was a huge fan of a SM boy group (I don't remember which one, maybe EXO?), and then SM was holding auditions in Canada, and her older sister jokingly said that she should audition so that she can meet the boy group. After thinking for a while, she did audition and passed, and then had to really consider if she wanted to go to Korea to become an idol, but she and her family decided against it since she was so young.
