@@OsellaSquadraCorse Thanks; I should have paused to check out the photo's source. However you are perpetuating Aiden's major error about the teams - in 1995 Forsythe and Green split into 2 100% separate teams. As part of the split agreement Green got the personnel, Villeneuve and the Players sponsorship, but the Players sponsorship was to return to Forsythe once Villeneuve moved on, which of couse happened in 1996. The blue KOOL livery for Franchitti was due to KOOL completely repackaging in 2002. Their "regular" brand, "KOOL Filters" went from a white box with a green rectangle in the middle with the "KOOL" logo to a semi-metallic green box with the "KOOL" logo in white. They changed their light cigarette, "KOOL Milds" from a white box with the "KOOL" logo in green letters to a semi-metallic blue box with "KOOL" in white letters. I'm sure you're correct that Franchitti got the blue "KOOL Milds" livery to match his Scottish blue helmet; Tracy had already changed his helmet design to green/gold/white back in 1998. The revised liveries like the photo show up when the team changed from Reynard to Lola chassis mid-season.

Was Barry Greene Australian? I feel like I once read about him competing in Aussie Formula Ford at some point, and the Holden that won Bathurst in 1990 did it on carbon metallic brakes they only tried out because mate of theirs named Ed Vieusseux egged them on. Vieusseux had worked with the team's technical boss back in Formula Ford and had since gone on to CART, and I got the feeling the team he worked with was Team Green. Anyway, pedantry warning: The Holden Dealer Team was never the same entity as the Holden Racing Team of the V8 Supercar era. HDT actually still existed last I checked, it was owned by Peter Champion who used it to market bloody awful "retro" bodykits for VE Commodores. The "Holden Racing Team" name, meanwhile, was actually more of a sponsorship deal, one that could be applied to whichever team Holden like best. It just happened that TWR won the contract first and ran as HRT for most of its existence, but early on when they weren't getting results it was looking like the Mandate Of Holden would pass over to Fred Gibson's team. Eventually it went to Triple Eight, just in time for Holden to no longer exist. Yeah, it's weird, and that's before we get into the Perkins HRT deal of 1988 or the original Holden Dealer Racing Team of 1967...

Stepping down, cashing in, enjoying life and family, telling 1001 "If you want something, you know where I'll be". Good on him, 25 years building a world class WINNING race organization at every level you've participated in is enough for anyone. Look at Penske, he realized what a shitshow F1 was back in the 70's and thats exactly why he never went back.

Andretti has been winning in every thing except Indy and if they can win championships there they ain’t winning anything in F1.
@ipanzerschrecku473224 күн бұрын
I think that pretty much everyone have misunderstood the whole Andretti F1 thing entirely. Most people would say that Andretti would be the reason why they should get into F1 and the team owners should be glad to see his company there but that's entirely wrong. Andretti is the reason they didn't get in. Andretti doesn't have the deep pockets or loads of cash needed to run an F1 team without the other teams essentially financing his deal through giving Andretti a slice of their pie and why should they? He's not Red Bull with mountains of cash without sponsors he's going nowhere. If the "Andretti company" had been a bonifide billionaire genuinely interested in opening up new markets or bring in new technology the other teams would gladly have let them in or had arranged a sale of a struggling team to them but Andretti brings nothing but his own ambition and a sponsor that can leave at any minute when they get tired of forking out 100 million and going out in Q1 every race - and then what?

The Federales looking into Michael Andretti's dealings? That'd be the last thing the pinnacle of racketeering, err, motorsport would want. If the financiers of Andretti's Formula 1 bid want a sniff a seat at the gown-ups' table they better cut ties ASAP.

Two takeaways from this video. One, I have never seen Dan Wheldon or Alex Zanardi's crashes (you camt avoid still of that one, unfortunately), I can't bring myself to do so, knowing how they ended up. But for them to be more violent than Kenny Brack's is pretty sickening to think. My second takeaway is that I prefer Katie's replacement, Grace.

Just a wee thought here. Running an Indycar team must take up quite a bit of time. As would, say, running an F1 team. Now, we all realise that running an F1 team is a somewhat larger 'Marmite de Poisson' than Indycar. Now, imagine if you will, that you, the owner of an Indycar team, suddenly managed to acquire your own F1 team. A dream you have held onto for many a month . Maybe you have just been told by Congress that some Seals have been dispatched to perform synchronized performances of 'Killer' on the Place de la Concorde, Churchill Way and the USS Jeremiah O'Brian, poste haste. Maybe you have just been offered an ailing F1 team which recently has entered a development spiral after years of internal fighting, been rejected by its parent company, and in the last few days just announced half of it is closing. You might say to your bestie 'Golly, y'all. This is just too much for me at the moment. Mr Gainbridge, I love you like my brother, and trust you implicitly, my pardner. Look after my first baby whilst I take care of the birth of my new baby. In God we trust!'

Andretti looks like a Carl HASS kind of fellow. He is busy looking over his NASCAR CUP team and has people under him ruining the F1 program. He just pays the bills and lets other people under him run the F1 show. Probably dose more work in the factory in North Carolina. A Entrepreneur with involvement in many aspects. Like Richard Brandson. Wehen he made the team Virgin he put a bit of value in to sell it and make a profit.

The IRL wasn't the "All American League". It was a "Some American League" while CART was a "No American League". That's OK in Formula One, but in what is supposed to be an American racing series, after all, you'd think there'd be some Americans involved. Team Green is a good example. None of the drivers named on this video as Team Green drivers were American, though I think Parker Johnstone did drive for them for one year as winner of "Kool Green's" American driver search, another one of those bogus promotions that find easily disposable drivers like Scott Speed and Johnstone and never consider the Tony Stewarts. Johnstone was replaced by that emblematic driver from the heartland of America, Dario Franchitti. As for this Andretti thing, I get suspicious of a company you've never heard of them then suddenly they're all over the place, especially when one of the places they're all over is sports sponsorships, which always look like shady deals. So is Gainbridge the new Enron? I'm expecting there to be a day soon when Gainbridge crashes and all their sports and racing holdings go down the drain. Maybe they're an honest company, but we'll see.
