The fact that i can't play with the same people over and over again over countless of matches is the main reason why i don't bother with Cod or Halo anymore. No one is talking in VC anymore cause everyone is sitting in their Discord channel with friends etc. No one is typing even in chat. I might as well just play against the hardest difficulty bots cause that's what it feels like at that point. Just playing against randomized players that either suck or sweats more salty water out of their armpits than an hurricane in the US. I could play hours and hours of MW2 cause people were active in the VC's and chat. Which made it a lot of fun when you could shit talk eachother and then leave the game with handshakes and GG's. From the 30+ matched i played of this game, This is just another video game that offers nothing of value to me lol.

15:40 I had this thought earlier -- a lot of the stuff I have nostalgia from of that era, we probably liked so much because it was still novel. Twitter in 2009 was telling people what you had for breakfast and when you were on the toilet and not much else -- it was seen as a toy, not the center of various subcultures like it is today. CoD was an arcadey shooter that all your friends played, but it also had foundations of a progression system that would define the series. Compare the camo challenges in MW2 to modern CoD -- headshots vs. a whole list of different tasks.

Running around and shooting people with no end goal other than to have fun is outdated in 2024 because I feel like people dont play games PURELY for fun. Most people play FPS games for an end goal. The stretch from Cod 4 to Black Ops 3 was legendary. Had a couple games that werent as good as the rest, but almost every year in that stretch was great to play with and even without friends. Cod 4-MW2 obviously being the peak at least for me but man.. havent been able to get into a cod game since. Occasionally I will download Cod4 remastered just for nostalgia but it just doesnt hit the same.

Flinch is just an outdated mechanic at this point. Apex completely removed flinch and it made a huge difference in aiming, especially for MnK players.

Ak was the closest to a 4-6 shot gun for me but yeah almost every other gun felt like I was shooting at a sponge I know they have segmented damage areas on the body but even upper body I felt like I was shooting like 6-7 shots before I got a kill or I got killed in what was 4 shots with smgs 5 with ars and 2 with shotguns

I'm not a big COD player. I play a month or two out of the year usually at the most. I skipped last years COD because I couldn't afford it. I'm playing this one on game pass. This is the most fun in COD I've had in a while. Probably the most fun I've had in a shooter since Fallout 3 came out or maybe when Planetside 2 was at its peak. It feels fast and you can move freely. I like fast paced games, and I'm a runner. It's chaotic as fuck, but I'm not afraid to die. My goal is to run in there, have fun and try to pull off some cool kill combos. I also love some of the extra stuff like the strategist bonus and the harder kill streaks. I love the lack of campers and snipers. This is great.

You can get the Willis 3x scope pretty early which is effectively the ACOG. I dont remember which gun i unlocked it from but i have had it the entire beta. Also yes the sniping feels alot like BO1 with the scope in sway which i dont mind sniping feels decent.

I think itd be great if attachements were grouped even more. So instead of the 8 2x sights having different percentages to them they all do the same thing they just look different. I wanna customize aesthetics without compromising performance. Like a holo red dot might feel better to me than the dude who prefers the framed red dot but they do the exact same thing in the game code.

I think everybody is sorta having the same issue of "I run, slide and dive forward" because that's what CoD has been. I've been doing the same thing, but I'm telling you. Once the game comes out and I'm able to sit there and grind it out for like three weeks, I'm gonna be a beast. I feel like in the "Golden era" of call of duty games, when shooter video games as a whole were still somewhat new, running around mindlessly and shooting people was fun. But in 2024 that same gameplay loop just isn't fun anymore because I feel like back then people played games purely for fun but nowadays (Including me) I need a reason to play the game. And that reason is camo grinding. Which is why I still play the game and it's fun to me. But after I'm done getting the mastery camo, I literally never touch the game ever and I feel like the gameplay loop of just running around shooting people just isn't fun anymore because of the evolution of video games.

The main reason I didn’t like to play warzone was because of the play style it forced players to adapt to. The constant slide cancel shit is just annoying to me, and this call of duty just decided to somehow make it even worse. Constant sliding gives you such a huge advantage, I don’t like it. I might not play it this year again.

The core gameplay is pretty damn fun imo but it has its issues. It absolutely needs a SND type mode. Respawn feels absolute trash nowadays. I will say that I've had a few matches in the beta and in MW2023 where the lobby stayed the same so hopefully they expand that more. Idk if it's just a dying playerbase but my 6 stack vs'd another 6 stack 3 or 4 matches in a row a week or so ago. It felt really good to have that back. Definitely looking forward to seeing some hostage shenanigans on this. And hopefully more on that sick ass Mitsubishi

Thank fuck I am not the only one who is not on board with BR’s. PUBG was good for 30minutes 5 years ago. Honestly I wasn’t sure if I had just grown out of gaming all together, but I miss the good ol days of MW2/BO2 and rolling with the boys. Even if you win 80% of the game is just running around looking for the next person until you get down to like the last 10 people. One big ass map and you rarely have a game where you get A LOT of kills. I want arenas. I want to dominate a lobby of people and drop 50 kills. Killstreaks, etc.

I think its time to allow COD to move onto these zoomer anti social kids lol We can't keep up anymore. I always think and feel the same as the things you spoke on, but I think ultimately, gaming HAS changed so much that we want the glory days. However, the world has changed, not just gaming, the ability to be banned for flaming in VC stops that from happening, and with how ruthless kids are nowadays due to the world collectively losing empathy, it is in the best interest of the company to clamp down on that shit. That type of gaming will never exist again. I also think that content brain is an issue here also, I too, dabble in the content creation and every game I think about "how can I make this into any form of content" and it really is a slog to figure out how to bend my love of gaming enough to make it into content. Instead of just playing the game as is, and finding enjoyment. I learned to turn my brain off with call of duty and just focus on one or two things, like camo grind. A nice headshot, or a couple of cool snipes, and taking that as my BR win moment. I think call of duty sits best now as a "I can play a couple of matches and then log off for the day" rather than "I need to play for 15 hours to get 10 nukes" type of game. Of course getting on the sticks and popping off happens less and less as we get older, but I get so much satisfaction when it happens that I can dismiss the generic COD game style, for those glimpses. Movement in this game has absolutely made me want to actually press, run in, go for kills and be a "demon" because I never realised how stunted movement actually was. It feels so fluid and fun that this game will hold my attention moreso than other CODs. Maps / Colouring I absolutely agree, I feel like I am immersed and enjoy the feeling of figuring out how to run around on these maps, rather than just sit and wait in certain areas, or locking up on part of a map I feel comfortable in and cover it. I feel like I can explore and shit, which is great. Honestly, I think this COD has a position of being the greatest COD ever made. I truly do, and I played every COD in existence, however, reverse boosting and SBMM is killing the hype right now, and I highly doubt they will, or even CAN do anything about it. Which is sad, I came from times of 6-7 KD's to now hitting a nice 1.2KD every COD (at 37 years old) but I really am tired of facing groups of enemies who clearly have reverse boosted and are hitting those 6 to 7 KDS and higher against me. While I do get satisfaction of finding and killing the high kill streak guys in those lobbies, it gets tiresome when I just want to do what I said, turn off my brain.

I feel its as though you said where its the sensation of I will play this game for 10-15 min and never see these people again. The gun play felt so clunky for me. I hated sniping in this which has the not been the case at all for me in any recent cod. Omni-movement was pretty mid, like it felt novel, but not objectively better. Plus, I didn't really love the maps included in the beta. It was fun when you'd basically just get to run through lobbies and then get into a few sweat matches and go back to running lobbies. Now everyone and their mom are running the "best" class set up only to go 10-10 in a match
