This is one of the best video I've seen on vorticity. I would also like to see something similar on circulation as well

ohhhhhh, so it's basically like following one particle through a microscope and looking at the where the surrounding particles go. and the length of the z axis basically tells us how fast it takes the surrounding particles to complete one turn around the particle we follow. makes sense!

that's what i thought too, also makes sense that its double since the x direction induced vorticity is the same but the velocity in the y coordinate is missing so 1/2 the vorticity

So, if we are given a vorticity map of a 2D flow field, how do we then decipher that the vorticity at a point is due to circular motions of fluid (vortexes) or shear motion of fluid (shear flow) at that particular location??
