Honestly Price downing Shepherd’s chopper with a grenade launcher is an excellent change. I always found it really jarring that he managed to completely wreck the helicopter with only three bullets. A grenade makes way more sense imo.

One of my favorite changes is at the end of loose ends, when shepherd is taking the DSM of of roach’s body. Just as shepherd lifts his arm away, roach grabs his wrist. It shows how Roach is still trying to do whatever it takes, even though he is helpless to do anything. It also makes the moment even sadder. And the way sherpherd just shrugs it off solidified how he doesn’t give any regard for the two soldiers.

@@deadlystalker7483 Emotionally, it's an excellent mission. Narratively? Why? Lets say that the whole point of Shepard's plan is just to spark a war with Russia in order to...... do what? Have more recruits in the US military? Was that all he wanted? So the full story is back in Cod 4, Shepard was in charge of the mission to go after Al Asad and his army got nuked. Shepard's response to that is to implant a CIA agent into a Russian terrorist organization, then leak the identity of the agent to the organization leader. He is then counting on the organization leader doing some huge attack and then turning the agent over to the Russian government. But that requires the agent to be willing to open fire on unarmed civilians instead of just shooting all 4 members of the organization that were with him, including the organization leader, in the back with his lmg and then surrendering to Russian police. So I guess Allen's just a complete psychopath and that's why Shepard picked him. Except it also requires the Russian police not to notice that there's no way in hell that the American they found was shot by anyone other than the terrorists he was with. It had to have been deliberate friendly fire. So that should lead to an investigation, not to an instant war. But it gets worse. You see, why the hell did Shepard kill Task Force 141? There's literally no reason. Maybe there was information on the DSM that proved that Shepard was responsible for Makarov staging his attack. In that case, you have the DSM, just give it to Shadow Company to decrypt the data and tell TF 141 what it needs to know. Tracks covered, you retain your best assets. Or even if he had just been more careful when leaking information to Makarov, there's no reason that Makarov knew who Shepard was or where he was. "We have the DSM. I'll give it to Shadow Company and we'll shut down Makarov." After all the TF 141 boys were exhausted from their battle, send the fresh American boys to go finish the job.

I dunno, some changes really are pointless and some effects are less impressive. The knife spin in the original may be unrealistic but it is way more cinematic (MW2 is pretty unrealistic in general) , while the remaster tries to make other scenes more cinematic with unnecesary hollywood sound effects and stuff (just look at ghost and roach death scene they butchered it in the RM). You would more likely flip it with just enough strength, then use the majority of your strength to throw it. Cool animation, but originally pointless. Do I still love to see it? Yes! Am I mad they changed it for a more realistic feel? No. The blow torch vs. jumper cables, well being shocked it probably extremely painful, but I feel that feeling the flesh being burned slowly at the whim of another in control, is probably worse, but that is just me.

The grenade launcher at the end of Shepard's chase now actually makes downing that helicopter believeable. There's no way you could down an MH-53 with 3 shots from an M4 (except for killing the pilot but the original game clearly shows a mechanical failure)

I think they should have kept the original knife spin. The entire COD MW2 campaign is pretty over the top and defies logic itself many times (like Russia declaring war on the US without looking into the background of the other 4 or 5 men also involved in the airport massacre) so keeping it would have fit the overall Badass Unstoppable Marine vibe the game kinda goes for at times. As much as I love the knife spin (I was spinning pencils like Soap back in high school because of this game back in ‘09) it is ultimately a dumb thing to do in a near death situation like that. No sane person, no matter how bad ass, would think.... “I’m dying and my captain is dying. Let me save my captain but before I do that, let me spin this knife around in a really cool way. Hopefully it doesn’t slip out my hand as I spin it injuring myself further.

Jumper cables are remarkably ineffective when it comes to torture and interrogation, as they are coated with rubber to stop electrocution, and even if you were to take the rubber off, it still wouldn't be much harm at all, so the blowtorch makes much more sense.

Yeah and it also isn’t realistic that someone could pull a knife out of their own gut and throw it into someone’s eye. Soap is a professional solider who is most likely more pain tolerant than most humans, which is why he had the strength to pull it out of his own body, if he could do that, he could’ve spun the knife. Also keep in mind the way soap spun the knife in the original was much quicker and more efficient.

In "crew expendable" in Modern Warfare 1, Captain Price wears a mask instead of his hat, and since the mask only covers his face, not his head, you can clearly see the bald spot. There's also a slight a change in the gulag mission. It always bothered me, that after the extraction rope was dropped from the heli they just casually clip on the rope and expect me to believe that it allowed them to exfil while they weren't really attached to anything. Now in the remaster there's an additional snap hook on the rope so it finally makes sense.

The ballistic vests that the rangers use. Pretty sure in the original they were either similar or looked like the IOTV's the US Army used and continues to use. Or even the old Interceptor body armor, which is still reasonably accurate. Now they are using PASGT vests, which wouldn't be worn by Rangers or any active duty army units during that time. At least it looks like the PASGT vest, which is what I'm pretty sure they also have the Marines use in the first modern warfare remaster which means they kinda basically just reskinned the marines. I dunno it's a small gripe I have.

The old Rangers are not wearing and IOTV. The closest thing is resembles is an RBAV with extra additions like the UCP collar. The remastered Rangers are using an OTV with an omega interceptor molle vest on top.

Just enjoy what Activision and Infinity Ward (and the others who helped in its creation) made for us, instead of being a whiny entitled douche bag because it "didn't look badass enough". Something i noticed during the no russian mission, the original has more people and two ambulances where the police barricade is in the remaster there is less people in the no russian mission and they removed the two ambulances replaced them with two more firetrucks but for some reason if you aim at the location with a M4 they re-appear but disappear if you aren't aiming at that area with a M4.
