One use for a meat slicer that people often overlook is that some of these entry-level models come with both circular and serrated blades, and some will cut slices up to 15 mm. (= 0.59 inches). You can make short and easy work of slicing loaves of bread with your meat slicer using the serrated blade.

Great video. I used my very old vac sealer to seal 30 ribeyes I cut from 2 ribeye slabs. Love it. I have an oven that dehydrates. I cut into a brisket and dehydrated the slices. 12 hours later...I eat half the bag. I created a powered salt to help the process and season the strips. The slices were crunchy and yummy to take on the road. But soooo need that slicer. Thanks. 🥩❤️

Thanks for another well done, informative and entertaining video. I always look forward to your recommendations even when my budget--and my spouse-- says find something a bit less expensive. My next project is cutting up an entire pork loin for sausage, chops and Canadian bacon...but I'm dying for that carpaccio vid. Please bring it on. Thanks again.

All great items - luckily, through the years, I have accumulated most of them, except for the meat slicer. - Cheers!

We have a bit of that foam mesh shelf liner in a drawer that wee thrown under the cutting board (wood). It keep sit nice and steady. Many people don't realize that dull knives are far more dangerous than sharp knives.

Good tips, we usually buy a whole beef (still alive) that way I know it’s fresh, keeping the knives sharp is always an issue for me.

The hopper on your meat grinder stainless or aluminum? I bought an STX, kids put the parts in dishwasher and wrecked them.

I might have to look into that vacuum sealer. I have the old kind and it’s such a pain in the butt that I just never use it.

I'm 95% sure that the victorinox knife shown at 1:48 is the same as the one Butcher Wizard is selling for a mark up. Can youi tell us why we should buy yours over a standard commercial blade?

I was looking into buying a meat slicer and read many reviews on various brands. The biggest complaint from people who have bought them is it seems is you can’t slice the meat very thin. I like lunchmeat just above shaved, paper thin, so I am thinking It may be a waste of money if I buy one just to cut slabs instead of thin.

Most home slicers come with a serrated blade which is not great for slicing deli-thin meats. Order a smooth blade (like the one on a deli slicer) for your slicer and you will be amazed how thin you can slice.

Thanks for that reply I recently purchased one of the small Homestyle slicers and it came with both a straight edge and a serrated edge cutter. I tried cutting thin slices of meat with the serrated edge and didn't work out so well. Now I know to use the Straight Edge

I can’t believe you didn’t include a steel with the sharpening tools. Use it often and you won’t need to use a sharpener nearly as often and you,ll have cleaner cuts.

I have a question about the grinder Can I put a whole chicken thigh through it? The one I have now is too narrow where you feed the meat in, not sure what the name of the part is, and I am looking for one that will accommodate the whole thigh so I don't have to cut them up before grinding We make our own pet food, which is why I grind up so much chicken, it's a nearly endless task around here

I ordered Titanium cutting boards off amazon because with plastic your food gets microplastic and wood is hard to maintain. With metal I'm getting nutrients. Some big company owns the Patent to meat grinders because they all look the same but the power is different. I'm buying a meat slicer to make deli meat, slice bread, cheese and what ever else.
@cmarkn
@cmarkn 18 күн бұрын
The problem with metal and glass cutting boards is that they tear up the cutting edge of your knife, bending and chipping it. Wood, kept clean and oiled, is nontoxic, sustainable, and should last for generations.

I decided to get rid of all my cutting boards and I got brand new wooden ones. Yes, it was definitely an investment, but I think it will be worth it. Before I had plastic ones, and I just kept thinking about all the plastic that I was getting When I was using it. So wooden ones all the way.
@zackdines
@zackdines 18 күн бұрын
Those bits of plastic just pass through your system and out the back end, they're fundamentally harmless and inert. I'll take that over a beat up, porous wooden cutting board holding bacteria any day.

You know your way around a side of beef but I doubt you're just a butcher. I've never known an ordinary butcher who lived in such an expensive home and drove an equally expensive car. No. What is your resume anyhow? We, the listeners, would like to know.
