The paella contained squid ink (black) that gives a fish taste and a black colour to the rice. It's a very traditional, classic addition to seafood paella so it wasn't overcooked or burnt.

I wondered as, to me, the paella looked overcooked. I didn't realise there'd be squid ink, included. I love paella but have never had squid ink included ( well, maybe I have, but I didn't realise it 😊) The calamari plate was probably intended as a dish, as part of a tapas. Not just to be eaten alone.

Brings back happy memories. I used to go there with mum back in the seventies and early eighties and loved it. It is what it is and all the better for it. A lot has stayed the same but there are some changes especially with the far end of the Levante beach. that rocky area at the end of the beach used to have just a few villas and small apartments but now there are those huge towers. i used to rent a moped and explore over there and there were lots of beautiful small bays to go swim in.

Loving the videos, nice to see the sun and blue skies. I think you must be accident prone Martin. I can see you've both caught the sun. It's so funny when you speed Sharon up. I thought your meal was quite substantial, you would have thought they would have served some kind of bread with it. Poor Sharon must have been starving that was shocking for a main meal, you'd think you would have had at least some chips and a better salad and some bread. When we used to go to Turkey we got either garlic or flat bread at the start of the meal. One time we went to Bulgaria and John asked for a tomato salad and that's all he got was one tomato sliced with some black pepper on it. We often laugh about it. Anyway i enjoyed following your walk out

Calamari is usually served, either as a Starter, or as a plate included in a Tapas meal.( well, in my experience) So it would be accompanied by several other plates of Tapas food. I've never seen it served as a main meal. If that was the case, in this Restaurant, they should be ashamed.(, I'm guessing it wasn't a main, because the paella was a normal 'main meal' serving for 1-2 people) I'm a Brit , lucky enough to live in Europe, I love the vibes of al fresco dining with families all enjoying time together . And I adore the fresh sea food. Glad you seem to have enjoyed your holiday

It's called "suffering for your art". Cannot believe you were determined to walk through your injury! Well done. You and Sharon would have loved one of those tandem mobility scooters! I would not be able to do half what I do without my scooter here on the Kent coast in the UK. I found your review of different areas very useful. I prefer quiet not noisy hotels etc, which is why I did not want to go to Benidorm but you have made me reconsider. Thank you and looking forward to the rest of your informative blogs.

Hiya. You two make me smile. So laid back and chilled. I stayed in Gemelos. One of the two towers at the end of the beach on Levante. Hen do. We were high up. Amazing views and no noise. But the cardiac hill was a killer after a night out. 😆🤣 The reception part was in another place. The pink house. I think. That's it, you're on holiday. And eat what you like. Authentic Chinese cuisine. 😆🤣😂Sharon sets you straight. Haha. Brilliant. Loved the series. I have the box set in its little suitcase. Great video. Happy Thursday.

Amazing, as previously mentioned we sat next to you at breakfast in the Prince Park not knowing you were making a video for KZbin until we saw ourselves in it. Then we see you at the restaurant where you had the paella, "La Bahia" which was one of the first restaurants that we visited in Benidorm and became our favourite for a while.

I've been to benidorm 4 times in last 5 years, never stayed at sol peniocas "solana"...I've always just walked straight into the hotel and pool areas no one says anything to you, so just go straight into reception area up 2 or 3 steps straight ahead of you then turn left towards doors to the pool area....obviously if your still there 👍

People who look down their nose at benidorm have never been. For the price you pay it's got everything you want for a cheap family holiday in the sun. We are booked up for the sol pelicanos in August this year. Can't wait to get back to Beni!

You should have got s double mobility scooter! We get one every time we go. We can't walk very far do they are great. Just be careful where you park them! They are such fun! Another great vlog. Loving seeing Benidorm. Can't wait to go back!
