what an awesome boss when he was in front of the board telling them what he expeirienced and sticking up for the staff. Thanks for uploading this. Awesome and amazing piece of filming to see behind the scenes.

Apart from the CEO all the other senior team no idea never been to the camps and one of them saying cannot justify a £2 cost in staff food because they were spending millions on a upgrade, typical suit

I bet none of the people in the board spend a night in the one their sites! None of them seem totally engaged on what is happening at shop floor level. These individuals probably only look at spread sheet and end of month reports - that is no way of understanding how the business operate. The Guy at 4:42 no doubt really want to argue about spending more money on the staff - he looks like he's really trying to put a "lid" on venting his point.

Been to Butlins only once as a 17 year old in 1966 at Clacton to be honest I enjoyed that week but the chalet was more army camp than holiday accommodation that said the food and entertainment was first class met a lovely girl from Sheffield but that is another story.

so why put part 2 in the title

It's not, it's the end of the first episode then the follow up episode a year later - which is about 95% a rerun of the first. Back to the Floor was a way of getting two 'new' shows for the price of one. They aired the first Butlins episode in 1998 then in 1999 shot a small update section for it padded out with essentially a rerun of the original programme within it, but both counted as first-run programmes.

I did a four month stint as a guest entertainer here in 2001, a juggling act with me ex missis an my young family adored it, lived on site, great chalet, this brought back cool memories

I just wish they hadn't shut so many camps around this time. With investment I'm sure many could've remained viable.
@chriswathen9612 Жыл бұрын
They didn't close any camps at this time. The closures were all in the early 80s leaving them with 5. Then when this refurb was done the smallest 2 were transferred to Haven (it was all the same business) and the largest 3 got the refurb and carried on as Butlins. The 2 transferred sites do remain open to this day as Haven

you say minehead is your most profitable yeah because you have put more effort into that one rather than concentrating on Skegness as that's the butlins era birth place ive been to minehead only once and I had a very bad experience as at night I could not sleep because I could not breathe and I was told by the camp dr at that time that my breathing problem was due to the fact that the Minehead camp was built on an old bog so ive not been back and the time I went there was around 1982 but would like to give it another go but I am very reluctant because of my last visit experience also Butlins would do well to make a part of their sites a pet friendly where people you cant afford kennel fees and want to have a holiday at butlins could do so if they was allowed to take their dogs other holiday camps have adopted a pet friendly area so why cant you
