My mum used to take me and my brother when we were kids back in the early 90's I have great memories and nostalgia watching this video. My mum passed away in 2016 aged just 54 to ovarian cancer and I found it hard watching this especially with the emotional music. I'm 37 now and have my own children but how things change so quickly. These moments I'll never get back but will treasure for as long as I will live

That's a heart warming message. I went as a child in the 70's with my parents many times and then with my own children and the grandparents in subsequent years. I have lost both my parents now but these memories, as you say, will live on.

My first Butlins 1953 aged 9 with Mum Dad & 2 sisters. Sadly my asthma spoiled my hol a fair bit & was a nuisance for M & D, but I did enjoy it all. Then Filey in 1954 having been told the sea air would help - it didn't! Spent every night in the sick bay!!! Modern asthma medication has been brill for me over last 30 or so years.

The indoor funfair, I now remember being on that carousel, feeding the ducks by that pond, and also later seeing a Gary Glitter tribute act in one of the entertainment rooms! (well I hope it was a tribute anyway haha!) Great times, brilliant time capsule video.

I worked at Butlins Pwllheli in 1962. It was a great place for the holiday-makers and for the staff. The entertainers on the Butlins circuit were very good. Dennis Lotis, Michael Holliday, Emile Ford and the Checkmates, are just some that I remember - well it was sixty years ago. We also had a group of Finnish students working with us that year. They were lovely young people. Also, Jimmy Tarbuck was the entertainment Red Coat. Happy days!

Hi, I also worked as an enrertainer (keyboard player) back in 83 and 84. I also worked in the main front shop selling early computers and organs. When it rained, the ceiling would fall in and water poored into the shop. The ballroom where I worked was in need of a total rebuild. It was a great atmosphere though and I loved every minute. I worked 7 days a week and 6 nights. I know it wasn't everybodies cup of tea but I and thousands of other visitors and workers just loved it.

Somehow the music seems at odds with the atmosphere Butlins had at that time, yet it's so appropriate in light of what's happened to the camp more recently. How sad that so much of it has been destroyed. Surely nobody actually thinks they have a better holiday offering now at "Hafen Y Mor" than was on offer back then?

I think Bourne Leisure who took over from Rank Group had no idea how much these camps were loved by visitors. They took everything away that was great and due to Health & Safety and costs they will never be rebuilt. Sadly lower visitor numbers caused the decline as people preferred posh accommodation to cheap functional so rubbished Butlins as out of date. How misguided they were!
