0:00 Ballad version
2:21 Rock version
4:13 A capella version
Butter-Fly is probably one of the most iconic Anime songs ever created and the first season of Digimon Adventure (1999) was essentially my entire childhood. How can I ever forget the legendary final episode, when the train is departing and our 8 heroes are saying goodbye to their Digimon partners. And then - in the most perfect timing possible - the last version of Butter-Fly started to play in the background. If I have to pick my favorite moments in Anime I have ever seen in my life, I would say it's the episode 54, the final episode of Digimon Adventure (1999). I will forever remember this legendary moment.
Having said that, I tried my best to make the piano arrangement of Butter-Fly as good as possible, because this song is so deeply ingrained in my memory, it essentially made me a hardcore fan of Anime songs. I decided to create a special type arrangement, which is combining both the slow ballad version (first-half) and the fast rock version (second-half), showcasing the best of two worlds.
Did you know that I have uploaded a TV size piano arrangement of the slow version of Butter-Fly on my KZbin channel already?
• Butter-Fly (TV-size) -...
It was uploaded in 2010 when I was still using an upright piano and today's Butter-Fly piano arrangement is the spiritual successor to the old video. I still can't believe I have been doing Anime piano arrangements for almost 10 years now. I wonder if I made a difference on the KZbin landscape with my piano uploads. Maybe it's about time for me to think about my own future again, where Animenz will be heading for the next few years.
Last but not least, I want to highlight the special third chorus. This is probably the longest solo right hand section I have ever arranged, because it is serving a special purpose: This a capella piano part is dedicated to the late Koji Wada, the singer of Butter-Fly, who has passed away in 2016. I was hoping the voice of the piano can reach to the heavens, so Koji Wada can see, his legacy is still living on in the hearts of many Anime fans in the world, including me.
Alright, that would be this weeks upload! This is it, everyone! It was a wonderful journey for me as an Anime pianist. Thank you for following me on KZbin for the last 10 years! And don't forget, I love you all.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for following my 10 year Journey as an Anime pianist. My original intention to create a KZbin channel was actually just to play this song from my childhood on the piano. After 10 years, I have finally come full circle by uploading the full version of Butter-Fly. Because this song will forever be my favorite Anime song of all time. Everyone, thank you for watching! 無限大な夢のあとの 何もない世の中じゃ そうさ愛しい 想いも負けそうになるけど Stayしがちなイメージだらけの 頼りない翼でも きっと飛べるさ On my love Mugendai na yume no ato no nanimo nai yo no naka ja Sou sa itoshii omoi mo makesou ni naru kedo Stay shigachi na imeeji darake no tayorinai tsubasa demo Kitto toberu sa on my love

When 20 years ago, i was 4 at that time, every one like to argue about digimon better or pokemon better. Today, i would proudly say it out loud that digimon adventure are better than pokemon because the adventure i had been through with taichi and yamato are still remember until today, and it had ended in a way that i feel like say good bye to my childhood ( thanks the production team of kizuna)

I can really feel the passion you had for this particular rendition. For some reason for me 4:14 onward hits harder than any other moment from your covers (and man there have been some doozies). Beautiful, beautiful cover, please never stop! Edit: just read the description, and now it hits even harder D:

What a fun nostalgia cover. From a poignant ballad intro to a let-loose, all stops pulled ending. Such a complete ~evolution~ from your original version from the upright days. While the intro has a ballad feel to it with the slower tempo, the touch feels a bit more deliberate than the usual soft, quiet touch on ballad-style sections. It invokes a different, stronger emotion the way the notes ring out and grip the audience throughout the first verse and chorus. As the pace picks up through the second verse/chorus and bridge, the occasional arpeggiated/scale run flares add a great color to the already energetic fabric of those sections. When the final chorus hits, I love the way the solo RH rings out, and the way you sink yourself into those notes, full-head in frame :). By the time the final three handed melody comes, it feels like you've let it all go and are having the time of your life with the piece, kind of like how it felt at the end of your Everlasting Guilty Crown cover. Last but not least, that double gliss in the closing passage is freaking smooth as butter. I love it I wasn't around to catch the audio issues, but I'm glad they were fixed! Hope you're continuing to do well and look forward to what you bring us next week!

Butter-Fly is truly an unforgettable song for me, so I literally went all out when recording this piece. It just feels so rewarding if you play your favorite anime songs on the piano . Btw, you really have an eye for every movement in my video! You even detected the connected double glissando near the end, haha. I still don’t know what kind of future lies ahead for me as an Anime Pianist , but this video is essentially the big finale of Animenz, finally coming full circle with the 2010 uploaded version of Butter-Fly. Just wanted to say thanks. U are the inspiration why I continued to play on the piano. I wanted to stop playing after 10 years because it was no fun for me only playing classic until I decided to enjoy playing what I like after I saw ur channel for the first time. Thank You!

I have been a fan ever since the year of 2014, as a junior high student, and have always been introducing Animenz to all my friends and family since then. My junior high and high school studying years was be filled with your melodies...and I, to this day, greatly appreciate how it brought me through countless emotional breakdowns and crises. It also gave me many inspirations in my high school years upon creating music with traditional Chinese Instruments I could play at the time. While I am really saddened to hear this news, I also hope to wish you of the best in your life in the future, and plan to follow you, even if not behind the nostalgic name of “Animenz”. This is farewell, and a sincere thank you from a Taiwanese undergraduate student currently studying in the U.S....also from the same diehard fan that still has a poster of Animenz 2018 Global Tour on the middle of the biggest wall in my bedroom ever since the unforgettable experience back in your concert in the year of 2018. *I want to express, sincerely, my utmost gratitude for accompanying me through almost a third of my lifetime.* *Thank you*

Man, hearing you playing this song just made me feel so nostalgic! "I wonder if I made a difference on the KZbin landscape with my piano uploads", yes you did, you inspired many to start learning the piano like myself and even encourage many new generations anime-piano channels to become what they are today which ultimately contributing to growing the anime-piano community. Fun fact: The first upload I ever did on my channel was your 2010 Butter-Fly piano arrangement! Thank you so much for your uploads and I'm definitely looking forward to next week.

Dear Animenz, I rarely ever comment on KZbin videos, but after hearing the recent news regarding your channel, I can’t help but feel the need to express my feelings on here. Words cannot describe how much of an inspiration you were. You fuelled my passion for piano and you are the sole reason I still play piano to this day. For that, I cannot thank you enough. I’ve been watching your videos for nearly 10 years now and I’m so glad I got to be a part of your journey. Your descriptions were far from just a typical video description, you connected with us and told us how you were doing in your life. Throughout all of your videos, I learned so many new techniques on the piano, but there is something of even more importance you have taught me. That is, to always get back up when you are down. This is why I’m writing this to you Animenz, I want you to remind you that no matter how bad things get, I know that you will always see it through to the end. That is the Animenz I know. I’m truly heartbroken to hear that your channel has been taken from you, but you should know that all of us, your fans, will always be here to support you. I wish you the best Animenz, and thank you. Sincerely, D.S

It's the 1 year anniversary of this video and I've listened to it a few times every month since then. Everything Animenz uploads is astounding, but this one stands out to me largely because of 4:14 . This is one of those bits of music that just takes me to another place, and it's only with one hand! That said, his performance is what takes it to the next level for me. The strength of each voice and the phrasing makes this more than just a normal Animenz cover to me. I'm so glad that I'm able to watch this performance . It feels like something special was captured here.
