I am a great fan of Mariah Carey and actually this make me so happy to see some real good singers like Regine doing a beautiful tribute to Carey with that medley , I do relive hearing her singing most of the beautiful songs of Mimi :) and think we should compare her to MC but to just listen her tribute to the living legend diva Mariah and lambies should be happy that Regine did that medley it is really awesome :) thank you regine :D

Mariah Carey is untouchable like Whitney Houston and other singers. But Regine is a legit and superb singer .. She is not a copycat singer. She is a Queen forever in our hearts.

I think her supreme vocal talent is largely wasted in the muddle of imcompetent philipine entertainment / music industry. She deserves to have a first rate recording studio to design songs for her. And it's not that difficult to compose for her because she has such a wide, wide, dynamic vocal range. And she is filled with emotion when she sings. You know she loves what she does. I think if Sony Music or any other big studios in the us signs her, she can do so much more with her talent.

A shame she never crossed over to American audience in 1991, With the right producers of that era, David Foster and Walter Afanasieff, among others, would have made Regine a big star, her singing was amazing. Her original songs are great, her singing is some of the best ever, seeing all these live shows of her only covering other 'divas' songs, gives a bad impression of her to americans, calling her a copycat or imitator, she is an incredible singer/vocalist, in her own right

i think you should all stop comparing mariah and regine....they have their own uniqueness. Just like someone here did say (although i don understand a single word from its feedback, and if you dare translate it in English), "Once a Diva, always a Diva". As for Mariah singing other's composition, that's a very good example coz when she does that, she basically converts the whole song into her very own without sounding anything like the original. However, when Regine does the cover version of Mariah's song, she sounded practically like Mariah in many ways.

My definition of "originality" is in such a way when a singer does a cover version of someone else's song, they manage to add in their personal touch to the extend people forget how the song was sung originally. A classic example would be Whitney's "I will always love you" and the collaboration with Luther for Mariah's "Endless Love" and not forgetting "Without you". Other than the tune sounded the same, no way are the singing technique even close for comparison.

(unless the revive them or have a permit maybe from the original singer) So , i don't think mariah will even dare to sing regine's which she hasn't heard of. So, we filipinos are so lucky to sing whatever song we want without asking for a permit from the original singer. that's the reason regine has a freedom to sing whatever mariah's song she likes.

Honestly, I think Regine's a great singer too. And like wise, I don enjoy seeing people slamming Mariah to glorify Regine. However, my point remains tat no one does Mariah's song better than Mariah herself.
