It’s actually pretty amazing how much abuse kalashnikov and lightning autos are able to survive.

Wait, what. My lightning stopped working pretty quickly. It fails often now. :( maybe it's a quality control issue.

@@DopefriedCheese I’ve done things with my kalashs where the aluminum of the handle failed before the mechanism. No idea how they managed to survive. Though if you get a crap one it will fail almost immediately. But if it lasts through the first week, you will then have to try to kill it. As far as the lightning- pretty much the same. They’ve survived far more than an OTF has any business doing so. It isn’t going to have cold steel triad levels of durability, I’m just talking relative to other OTFs.

@@DopefriedCheesedo you have the regular original lightning otf or the lightning ELITE otf? i’ve heard the elite is a piece of shit but the normal lightning otf is dope.

If it's paint on the blade it'll be a scratch fest. I like the fact that it's D2 and a button lock flipper for legality reasons it's just a good way to keep your knife if ever stopped by the police. I really watched this video to see you deploy it and how fast it is, for a flipper it's alright. Thanks for the review. 👍

The Kalashnikov stands up there with staples like the opinel, victorinox, buck 110, paramilitary and the rat 1&2. That's why as an Australian I've wanted one for many years but couldn't until now.

Its designed to be held in the death grip, or hammer grip. It locks the hand in very well.

Nice enough knife. Though I find i prefer the milwaukee tools style button locks. It has a liner lock that closes it but a button that allows one to wrist flick it open.

A Boker Kalashnikov (dagger grind, of course, and mine was centered) was my first auto. Then I moved up to a Kershaw, then a Protech. It really is a good value, and a fine user/beater/toolbox knife. But yeah, it can't compare to Protech or even Kershaw. You get what you pay for. at least with those 3 brands.

I was all in until you showed me the detent lash. I need a closed blade to be rock solid. Even some $30 knives are tighter when closed. There's no excuse for that sloppy lash.

Is this knife a better than the SENCUT Serene Button Lock Knife Black Aluminum in terms of quality, lock mechanism, and overall use? I’m in between the two and I’m not sure which to go with.

Does the blade have an overtravel stop to make it not hit the middle standoff spacer ive got a auto kalashnikov that the spring broke in so now its essentially a gravity knife however the blade can go past the button lock and hit the middle spacer and I now have a divit right in the middle of the blade

Uuuggghhh whyyy D2?? Why does every damn thing need to be D2 these days?? 1. Edge retention isn't everything. 2. Other steels can perform damn close to D2 given proper heat treat and appropriate edge profile. I cannot wait til we get past this phase as a community. I guess I'm not really all that interested in this now that I see how lackluster its build quality is, but still aggravating.
